I’ve sold a number of paintings in the past and haven’t faced this issue before. As some of you know the re-written copyright laws enacted when Clinton was president gives the creator of a painting all rights to that work upon completion of the work, including all rights to images of the painting as prints, reproductions, etc.

The price is fair enough, but the guy wanting it is stating that he wants to buy the painting and all rights to it’s image. And he wants this in writing (as a binding agreement) as part of the sale.

What would you do? Have you ever been asked to sale the complete rights to one of your works? I really don’t know how to deal with this. Would this mean that I couldn’t even display a copy in my portfolio without getting his permission? Or on my blog?

Here is the painting, not that what it looks like has any bearing on the issue:

Here is an India news broadcast of the emergence of a colossal anthropomorphic skeleton upon the western shores of India. The skeleton was dredged up from the depths of the Indian Ocean sea floor by the catastrophic December 28, 2004 Indonesian Tsunami, and it finally surfaced and beached upon land over a year later in 2006. The skeleton of the creature is about 300 feet in height, half buried in the sand. Note the bone structure of the rib cage, and the five digit fingers on the titanic hand. Its skull is intact, and in the closing scene of the report, the eye socket can be seen in the side of the skull behind the news reporter.

Though the discovery is over a year old, to date the main stream media of the West and the U.S. have not yet reported on this profound and startling scientific discovery, obviously because of its anthropomorphic structure, which does not conveniently fit into the current scientific paradigm nor does it "support" the bogus Evolution/Uniformitarian Model, but, on the contrary, is in diametric opposition to it, for the Holy Scriptures state that before the Flood of Noah, "There were giants in the world in those days."

"You can yell at me,
if you want,"
He says.
I politely decline,
not of courtesy.
Out of fear for
his safety.

The truth is,
I want to barricade myself
and scream for days.
Until my voice gives out.
Until I can not hear
my weakness giving in.
Until I can enjoy the silence.

I've always said that one of my favorite things to do is read, but i realize now how much i DON'T read anymore...I want to start reading again, but i don't know where to begin. I'm 19, in college and looking for something of a 'page-turner' that actually has something to say!
Can someone recommend a book that has inspired them... something i can pick up for the summer and still want to read later.. (not looking for a trashy 'romance' novel)
Here are some of the books I've already read (and liked)
The Giver
The Outsiders
The great Gatsby
Of mice and men
Jayne Eyre
Pride & Prejudice
The little Prince
Follow Your heart
Blood
Valentina
The Ladies' Paradise
Little Women
Lord of the Flies
Aesop's Fables

p.s. Has anyone read any of Jennifer Weiner's books? Are they any good?

I like to read good novels about cities I haven't been to or know only a little about in order to get a real sense of 'life on the streets.' Much better way to learn than non-fiction. Here is MY list of some modern novelists and the cities they 'cover' that I like. Can you give me names of other novelists and the cities they write about?

Richard Price-NYC, Newark
Steve Lopez, Pete Dexter-Philadelphia
George Pecanos-Washington, DC
Dennis Lehane-Boston
Saul Bellow-Chicago

Others? U.S. or otherwise.

...I know everyone's definition of sin definitely varies, but lets say the parent writes down, a "commandment"...do you think its possible to live in a sinless life until you die? Like ABSOLUTELY no lies, stealing, cheating, murders, hating etc.

Or do we need sin in order to express ALL of our being.

First off, to assume so is to assume the ignorance of the majority of the world, because most people accept the possibility of God as have many of the brilliant thinkers. Is it possible that the God accepting majority as not ignorant, but have simply drawn a different conclusion after examining the same evidence? Because most people who believe in God DO NOT reject or dismiss empirical evidence, but some may disagree with the interpretations and speculations based in that evidence.

So moving on, if merely disagreeing with the prevailing thought of the day makes one ignorant then atheists would automatically be ignorant for rejecting the majority view of God. I don’t believe that and for the same reason I have no reason to assume that a person who believes in God is ignorant for interpreting the evidence differently than an atheist.

Furthermore, even if somehow an atheist did know more than all of those who believe in God, one cannot reasonably claim that God does not exist without also believing that they are all-knowing. But that is not possible, because our human ability to contain knowledge is most definitely finite. Therefore, since we are only a tiny (finite) part of a universe (if not infinite) that is much bigger than our human ability to comprehend fully, that alone proves it is impossible to even know all that is contained within our universe, not to mention that might be beyond it. Thus to claim that there is no God with any degree of certainty is not a logical conclusion. The only logical conclusion is that God may or may not exist.

My question is this, why do some who reject the concept of God attempt to paint all who disagree as ignorant? Why paint with such a broad brush? Why rely on straw man arguments to attack those who disagree? Why not address the arguments for God at their strongest point?

Note: It is no secret that some who believe in God are ignorant, that is not my question. Again my question, if you don’t believe in God, why assume that those who believe in God believe so because they don’t know what you do?

Out of all the books you have read, of any genre, (excluding things like the bible and the dictionary, etc) which do you consider to be the most important. What book do you feel has affected you or affected the way people look at the world the most. You can choose to give your reasons or not to.
