It is a good attitude and I find it is even better if you have a pint or 2 or 3 while you are doing it.

Sometimes, yes. It's not that I need to, it's just that I want to. Whenever I feel like crying, I just try to stop it though sudden laughter.

It is a good cure. When you feel like you're on the verge of crying and being overwhelmed, you force yourself to suddenly start laughing or at least smiling. The facial/physical signal of the muscles changing their direction will probably be interpreted by the brain. Even if the gesture is not valuable at first because it doesn't replace your mood, if you continue it as an exercise and keep doing it more and more convincingly, you will form a reflex. The reflex will eventually substitute the mood. My opinion is that through this exercise, the brain receives different signals (opposite pieces of information) from different sources, so it is confused. but by continuing the gesture, the brain will get attached to the sensation and finally replace your initial mood completely.

There is a delicate balance in there where you are crying and suddenly realise you are crying because you are actually happy inside that you can still feel Life and still respond to it, for better or for worse. You keep crying, but it turns into crying solely from the joy of being fully alive, instead of crying because you feel something has been taken from you.

After you go through enough trials, eventually you will know to laugh instead of being defeated by the tears. Matter of fact that's a line I use occasionally, and will laugh at moments when others would cry. I know to hold my head up high, and to laugh.

Yes.

When I am frustrated or really anxious I start laughing and shaking a little but inside I'm actually crying, screaming or paralysed!
I'm sort of portraying a false identity I guess, but not intentionally.
Its sort of like my shell, it protects me from reality, facing up to the hard and sometimes twisted truth. Thank You & take care...

Yes, I try to laugh so I can hide the tears. The two emotions are close, so it's never very hard. What makes it hard is when someone around you gives you that look like, "I know your really wanting to cry..." then I break down in tears completely.

Laughter is the best tonic going. If you feel emotionally that you want to cry about something the easiest way to turn your emotions around is to think of something funny and then laugh. Works every time!

I have this habit of laughing at nothing. I don't have time to think about crying. But if I do have to I will really have one and wail the house down. lol
