The world does not being or end with poetry - nor does the expression of feelings.

There is literary art in:

Prose
Essays
Journals
Short Fiction
Satire
Scriptwriting

You could also try mixed media combining written words and visual media or any of a bunch of combinations.

There is also nothing wrong with performing other people's work given you have their permission AND you credit them.

Musicians do it all the time - it's called a cover.

Just being around literature will give you insight and educate you at the same time. Eventually, hopefully, you will find that you are inspired to write something of your own.

Options? Many things. Start a journal and just write about what you are feeling. There are many sites on the internet that give some ways to get started.

Draw ---pens, pencils, what ever is handy. Remember it doesn't have to be a work of art. Use colors and shapes to represent your feelings or just draw out what is bothering you
.
Take pictures from magazines and make a collage, or group the pictures to show your feelings, you can cut out words to put along with the pictures.

Tear up colored paper and paste on poster board with things you find like paper clips, stones, buttons.

You could even use a drawing program on the computer to draw your feelings. But generally it works better if you can actually touch what you are working with.

By the way poems do not have to rhyme -
Good luck

Yes, you could try writing poems that look like journal entries. Probably what you should do is carry writting materials around and jot down interesting observations (odd dialogue you hear, non-cliched descriptions you think of). Don't worry so much at first about having full bodied pieces of work--just look for segments.

A good book to get would be "In the Palm of Your Hand" by Steve Kowit (really accessable writing activities and observations).

Pick a poet you like: read a few of their poems each day. Choose a songwriter you like listen to some of their songs and just have a pen and paper near you.

Don't worry about having huge talent (it's a bit of a myth--yes there is talent, but each person sees the world in a unique way. If you can capture your voice (through writing...and writing...and writing) you will develop talent--or skill that mimics it to which point who cares.

So in short, read good work, listen to music that inspires you, jot down ideas as they come to you, and write like a madman.

That's really all I have. Good luck to you...

The best way to put feelings into meaning is to help someone else do something which is difficult for him to accomplish. I am talking about helping someone else over a rough spot in his life. If that is not putting feelings into meaning, I do not know what would be.

just get a piece of paper and start writing, if you don't like to write then just type your feelings out and hit print. it does not matter if the rhyme or if they look like a poem. just write down your feelings and enjoy getting them down on paper. you will feel alot better if you just get it out of your system.
