To counter some of the earlier answers, Julius Caesar was not the first Emperor, he was the last leader of the Roman Republic holding the office of Dictator.

Rome's most famous and imfamous Emperors...
Augustus (first Emperor)
Tiberius (2nd Emperor)
Caligula (1st Imfamous Emperor)
Claudius (added Britain to the Empire)
Nero (2nd Imfamous Emperor)
Vespasian (won the civil war after Nero's death, began the construction of the Colossium)
Trajan (expanded Rome to its greatest territorial size)
Hadrian (built Hadrian's Wall between Britiania and Caledonia [modern Scotland])
Marcus Aurelius (philosipher emperor)
Constantine the Great (first Christian Emperor)
Romulus Augustulus (last Western Emperor)
Justinian (Greatest Eastern Roman [Byzantine] Emperor)

..
There are the Famous ones, you know: Agustus, Nero, Irene, and of course the guy who made the Ide's of March famous, Julius Caesar. Well guess what, there's 75 more and they're all mentioned in this site. After all there are over eight hundred years in between Julius Ceasar's reign and the first female emperor, Irene. Rome did not recognize Western emperors in Italy beginning with Charlemagne in 800. These emperors continued to reign in Constantinople until 1453.

The twelve Caesars reigned from 49 B.C. until 96 A.D. The five good emperors from 96 A.D. until 180 A.D. Emperors reigned through crisis and recovery from 180 A.D. until 324 A.D. The conversion to Christianity began in 324 A.D. and the capital was moved to Constantinople.

Hmmn. There's a long list (supposedly complete) on Wikipedia, by the way... I guess the question is, which ones are famous? Okay, how about:
Julius Caesar (ok so this one isn't clear - was he really the first emperor, or not?
Augustus Caesar/Octavian
Claudius
Caligula
Nero
Tiberius
Hadrian
Marcus Aurelius
Trajan
Constantine

Nero is the most fascinating my mind. Technically, he played a lute as Rome burned, they didn't have fiddles. He had his mother killed. He got rid of his first wife to marry his mistress(Poppea) who he kicked in the stomach while she was pregnant, killing both her and child. Then had a boy who looked like her (Poppea) castrated so he could marry him and died in this boy's arms. Let us not forget his great love of the theatre. He was an amazing actor. When it came to athletic competitions, he bribed people so he'd win.

Fascinating stuff.
