Ok, so I am an Australian 18yr old male. Finished school last year and haven’t even been able to just get a normal job yet as I am having no luck. I have been asking myself if I could do anything what would it be, and I said acting.

Growing up I had a speech impediment and also had an accident involving my mouth when 3 years old which lead to surgery. Had braces at 14. Growing up I struggled talking to people and didn't have anyone to help me. I didn’t have any friends or family. I have managed to get to the point where most people can't pick it up so I must be doing ok. I improve everyday as talking to people in everyday life helps.

So at the moment I have no life and don't know what to do, I would like to pursue an acting career or even work for a little bit first then try acting.
I want to be an actor; I feel I don’t have what it takes.
Other:
Looks: athletic build, pale, hair is fine at moment hope I don’t go bald, alright teeth, short/average height.
year12 average marks

It sounds like you have a bit of a self esteem problem which is totally normal especially for actors. We all seek the approval of others right? If you have the means, try a few rounds of therapy and see if that helps. Also, get involved in local theatre. That's where most actors start. Take classes, take part in productions, do whatever you can to be involved.

You can also try auditioning for student films at local Universities. Contact the film departments and see if they maintain books of headshots for student filmmakers or ask how the students usually go about listing audition notices. Here in the US they post notices on Backstage.com.

If your speech problem is still an issue, e-mail me. My daughter has a disfluency and she still gets roles. She undergoes therapy... I don't know how much it helps but if you have the same issue as she does I can tell you what they do and you can try it.

After you've built a bit of a resume, try your hand at getting an agent.

Good luck!

Your looks are irrelevant unless you want boring roles, and Marlon Brando arguably the greatest actor of his generation had a nasal lisp that sounded like he had marbles in his mouth half the time. Your grades are definitely pointless (for acting not life in general). I can relate to you having a speech impediment. I got rid of mine when I was 10 or 11 and it is something I still struggle with sometimes. If you wanna be an actor there is only one thing for you to do and that's audition. At your school, community theater, children's, it doesn't matter. If you still can't get a part try producing your own show.

First of all, the best thing to happen is to be seen by an talent scout or an acting scout but it will be an miracle if that happened and Colin Ferrall which he now is one of the best actors.

Also you can take acting classes which really helps you a lot if you are trying to be an actor and they show you how to act different kind of tasks and how to interpet the script and even how to cry.

What ever happens God is in control..aND believe in God with all you heart, mind, soul. And why not join a church and involve in some kind of spiritual service..Coz God is watching.. And God bless you!

Why not look around for a local community theater to see what you think of the environment. The people there could also recommend local resources, such as schools, classes, workshops, etc. to help you get some exposure to it and determine if it would be a good choice for you.

If you have a speech problem I highly recommend a speech therapist. I don't have a speech problem but my brother does and has a person that actually comes to the house, just sitting in on their sessions has helped me immensely and I don't even have speech problems. For you it would make all the difference.
