I honestly don't see how loving someone could in any way relate to loving yourself. If all one cares about is the other makes THEM feel, boosts their ego, & so on, then it isn't love at all. "Love" is so often, & so easily confused with "in love" (a rather selfish state) or attraction to someone for superficial reasons.

Sort of - mostly what you love when you're "in love" is the way the other person makes you feel. Yeah, you care about them, but if they didn't make you feel in some way special and happy, you wouldn't want to spend time with them, would you? So it's the feeling you love, and that's internal.

I agree with scout. You love the feelings the other person evokes in you. When it comes to love the only thing that seperates one person from another is the way they make you feel. Whether those feelings are well grounded or not is another question.

One aspect of love is your appreciation of the other person's good taste in choosing you as a love object. Real love evolves out of original passion for the other person.

No you put yourself after. You love that person first but in that danger of Love can be abused so be wise when you love never let another take advantage of your love...........Love there is always a imbalance and the two must compromise in order for it to be lasting if one is selfish and puts themself first than say Goodbye to love that is selfishness and not love when you love your self first.............SELFISHNESS not LOVE...........

Jesus said; "There is no love greater than a man lay down his life for his friends".
So, it depends on if the love is for personal gratification or a to "die for love".
