Call them up and see if they're looking for help. Even for interns, many of them want you to be fluent in MS Office particularly Word, Excel and Outlook. To get permanent positions you have to have a degree and be able to handle high volumes of calls, high stress stuff (depending in the office) but I would make a list of questions, have my qualifications written down and start making calls.

Make notes on who you speak to especially because the person you speak to may not be the person who has the power to tell you yes in the first place. Ask them who the right person is to ask about this. Call back later if you think this person is just too stressed to give you the right answer :-)

Good luck!

There are a couple good resources for you to reference:

Ross Reports has a complete listing.
NY Agencies also has a (maybe even a more complete) listing of talent agencies.

You can either call or send do a mailing with a nice cover letter and picture of yourself, which would be a nice touch, then follow up with the phone call.

There's no right or wrong way.

Good luck!
