Which would be a greater philosopher, a philosopher who parrot others ideas, a philosopher who takes others ideas and expands on them or a philosopher who generates new ideas.

A philosopher who parrots others ideas would be able to select which philosophy rings true for them and pass this on to others, therefore keeping the ideas alive within the community.

A philosopher who takes others ideas and expands on them can select the that rings true for them and take it to the next step before passing them on, therefore allowing ideas and concepts to evolve with each generation.

A philosopher who generates new ideas would provide new fodder for the first two to use, and therefore provides more to the 'mixing bowl' of ideas.

Which of these philosophers is greater in works and function. The definition of greater can be up to you but please explain why you selected them.

Serious answers only.

Thanks.

In English class we learned that in Hamlet, Shakespeare allowed us to see the King's weak and remoseful thoughts because having a degree of sympathy for him made the story/themes more complicated than just good and bad, black and white. But then I went and read The Merchant of Venice, and there's nothing at all to give you sympathy for Shylock's actions. Why the difference?

My paternal grandmother is half Jamaican. Her father was Portuguese and her mother Jamaican. So what percentage of me is Jamaican? My mother says I'm 1/4 Jamaican and 1/8 Portuguese. I think I'm 1/8 Jamaican at best. A friend told me I was 1/16 Jamaican. Who's correct?

So I drew a picture outline with pencil, and I want to do a light watercolour wash as the background. I'm thinking I'll do it right over the pencil, then when its dry paint in my lines with acrylic. Will that work or will the watercolour erase the pencil lines?

I've had a few writing workshops and I've found them to be very helpful. However now I don't really have that luxury so I'm looking for honest people who maybe could start a longterm writing partnership. For example, sending stories via email and giving editing advice etc. -- like "swapping papers" in class to grade them. Any takers?
