If you expect someone to explain how women push men out ballet you probably won't get an answer, because they don't. The only instance I can think of is completely unintentional: there is a lot of girls in every ballet class but very few boys. Boys might feel a bit isolated if girls like to have a lot of "no boys allowed" conversations.

It is stereotypes in the society that discourage boys from taking ballet. Parents are very likely to encourage their daughter to take ballet but encourage their son to do something else rather than ballet.

Despite of that, the tendency is actually the opposite of what you are trying to argue: classical ballet casts include a lot of female dancers and very few male dancers. Recent works have this ratio shifted towards including more male dancers.

In the US, in particular, male ballet dancers are stereotyped and assumed to be gay, thus most heterosexual men have no desire to take ballet classes. Fathers think it is "sissy" for their sons to dance, so they don't enroll thim. So yes, males are pushed away from ballet. Many men don't start taking classes until their late teens, which makes it difficult to make it into a career. When you look at programs at professional ballet company performances, the bios about the men tend to talk about their training in other countries, because it is much more accepted for men to be dancers in other countries, particularly eastern Europe and Asia. So the US gets many of its male dancers from other countries. It is too bad that this stereotype exists, as male dancers are incredibly athletic and strong, and in no way "sissy!"

My son is one of only two boys in his class and it's very daunting for him. I put him in to improve is gross motor skills. They've improved greatly and have helped tremendously in his soccer game as well. I just wish he didn't feel so outnumbered in dance.
