When I was in England, the English did not regard Hemingway as an accomplished writer. They even thought that Hardy's "Under the Greenwood Tree" was superior. I believe I understand why, since after reading "The Sun Also Rises", I see that Hemingway uses a rather simple vocabulary and does not go out of his way to describe things with any sort of ornate or complex words. How can such a person get such a glittering reputation, some would say the best reputation of any 20th century American writer?

How can we ensure our Achara Dharma ie transient in nature to be in tune with Atma Dharma ie Permanent in Nature ? Is it a way too complex a process and the underlying threads, are they very subtle in Nature ?

Are the Ways of Achara Dharma, the practical rightfulness or righteousness like the practicalities of Sun rises and Sun sets, Heaven and Hell, Right and Wrong, Good and Bad, Life and Death, Veda and Vedanta are way too complex, changing and subtle to be in tune with the Real and Permanent Atma Dharma ie aiming Salvation, Moksha, Moha Kshaya, the Cessation of All desires, just like the Sun in the back ground that neither rises nor sets. Scriptures need to be studied deeper into understand the fine threads which perhaps, are not the case with most of the so called practitioners and followers in today's world. May be that also a Divine Art, Tatvamasi.

What's your take ?

Dante didn't get to pick his guide. Virgil just appeared to him at Beatrice's behest. If you had to retrace his steps in "The Inferno" (that's really the only one I am interested in), who would you pick as your guide and companion? Virgil was considered a righteous pagan, but you can choose anyone you want, as long as it's someone famous.

Please explain briefly why you would like the person you pick to be your guide, and how you think he or she would benefit you in your visit through Hell.

Thanks!

I'm doing an article for a major philosophy/psychology publication and would greatly appreciate it if the users here would be able to answer the one question on the quick survey (link below). It'll take less than a minute of your time. Post your answer here with a detailed explanation, too, if you'd like and the most thoughtful explanation will receive Best Answer.

Thanks.

Why all the religion are giving different views regarding god? Are they all imaginery? Why they are keeping the people in dilemma? are people made jusT tO FOLLOW THE religion? why they does not provide the satisfac tory and true answer?is there any religion which is absolute and 100% truth? i want to tear all the religious book which is even 1% false because it creates the universal problem. i will die for the sake of the universe. and why scientists tell that there is not god? if there is no god then who manages this all the nature on the earth. i think scientists are also of no use. they just do for their fame. why are they destroying the nature by creating several unneccery things which is only entertaining temporarily. if they want to show their ability then then should stop the revoling earth, can they? this world would be peaceful and satisfactory, if there is rid of sex, anger, greed, desire, pride and fear. and i think this modern technology is just the greed, desire and pride.

There was too much debunking of today's art. There is plenty of great work now and some rubbish, of course, just as in the past.
