I've noticed this on many TV shows, films and adverts- it always looks as if the wheels are spinning backwards as the car drives forward at speed- why is this?

Would greatly appreciate it. Please help if you can! The question is: Taking into consideration the theories of thinkers like Jeremy Bentham, John Stuart Mill, and Karl Marx and reformers like Robert Owen, imagine a scenario that would have allowed Britain to industrialize in a more humane fashion than happened

Is Ayn Rand wrong in general?

Hi There,

At 66, and being a disabled Vietnam-era veteran, my memory isn't what it used to be. So, when I ask myself WHY to the question I posed above...so as to prove or establish its known validity, I now seem to get nowhere.....no matter how hard or long I try.

I used to know this....but unfortunately, I'm having problems now.

Anyway, I'm also working with dropping the context, argument of the false alternative, and the argument from intimidation....in a piece on immigration reform.

So, if any of you Ayn Rand Objectivists, Libertarians, or just philosophy-interested folks out there are willing to help out, I sure would appreciate it, very much.

I'm half-Mexican, and a lot of American Indian...but am neither racist nor ethnocentric.

I'm against the oxymoron of any form, degree or level of amnesty.....with or without the self-invalidating contradiction of any accompanying penalty or punishment.

I sure would appreciate your help.

Thanks.

Does anyone know of any ongoing meetings or workshops for Haiku, in or around London (UK)?
Most of groups or associations, such as the British Haiku Society, are largely web based, with infrequent meetings. I will appreciate information on other sources of meetings, worshops, etc.. where to share with others, as well as for mutual feedback and inspiration.

My personal favorite is a tie between Rincewind the magician & Otto von Chriek the vampire photographer.

I like Rincewind since he's the first character I read about in the series. I find it funny how he's one of the few characters who not only recognize how dangerous a situation is, but tries to keep from getting into said situation, even though he fails.

I like Otto because he's just pretty darn cool. A vampire who is giving up blood & takes up photography to ignore his bloodlust?

If you haven't read these books, I heartily recommend them.

I'd really like to read something that doesn't spoon feed the plot. Preferrably horror. Any suggestions?

I've always used high heels for salsa, and was wondering if I should switch to dance sneakers during practice. If so, what brands/models are best for latin dances?

Secrets of Time
My first memory is age five. I am loyal
faithful to my words. I am a sinner and I know it.
I choose to lie I choose to make my lie the truth.
I broke and my tears spoke for me. Please, please
think about it- Any one who never lied at age five
Maybe but not this artist inside/ Outside who knows?
I lusted for a life and in my bloodline
the present and my past
It was achieved - I did not achieve it
Age 24 a new direction -
This time no goals in mind! I will be humble
I can act it and acting is out time.
Those around me are my pawns
Not mind games but support and understanding
I have educated myself and felt nirvana
I walk on the sun and it charges my journey
Who are we and do you stand tall
I am now another teacher/student amongst us all

1.the world is yours?

2. the world and god's power is yours?

3.You are god?

4. You are reincarnation of god?

5.You are son of god and told to change the world?

6. Given a choice by god whether or not to eliminate humanity except yourself and recreate the world?

Final question:
would you say yes if god want to give you the world?

"with great powers comes great responsibility"
think hard

I just read in an answer to one of my questions, "absolute power corrupts absolutely." I am not saying that it cannot be true but it does have counterexamples. So do phrases like, "time is money," and many others. Should we accept things as truth simply because they are social mantras?
