I'd really like to read something that doesn't spoon feed the plot. Preferrably horror. Any suggestions?

Have you read "House of Leaves" by Mark Z. Danielewski, it's a great book. I'm not sure whether you'd call it a horror or a thriller, but it's very atmospheric a bit like Silent Hill.

Try Jonathan Carroll.

His first book is called THE LAND OF LAUGHS. Very Twin Peakish and just really cool. Beyond classification.

You can check out "The List of Seven" and "The Six Messiahs" by Twin Peaks' co-creator Mark Frost.
