Oh the lazy days of summer long ago when I first read that book for fun. That and I couldn't find anything else to read at the library. Scout taught Uncle Jack the meaning of children. Wait, what? Okay, see Uncle Jack didn't have the slightest idea about how to deal with children. When Scout smarted off and Uncle Jack spanked her, he felt he did the worst thing in the world.
