I wasn't alive back then, but I can probably imagine what the reaction was. Shock comes to mind first. Sort of like when I heard the first broadcast on the radio that the one of the towers had a plane rammed into it and the US was under attack on our soil. It's gut wretching. Especially when you see it played back on video. I would imagine anyone watching the video of President Kennedy being shot would have the same reaction.

People watched TV and cried for days when JFK was assassinated. To this day the mystery has never been definitively solved as to who, and how many were involved.

People were devastated at the death of their young president.

I remember reading first hand accounts of Peace Corps volunteers who were in other countries at the time of Kennedy's death and how they grieved for him. There was even a volunteer who was approached by a beggar in some country and the beggar told him, "I'm sorry for the death of your young president." Something like that :P

We took little notice of it. Some girls cried. But it had little effect on us common people. We just got a few days of school off. Sorry to be so frank, but I was 16 and did not really care. Nor did any of my friends.

Shock, anger, horror.

Regardless of your political ideology, the assassination of Kennedy was a terrible thing.

Tears!

I was a child and the most vivid memory of how everyone cried! I thought that everyone loved presidents because they cried so much.
