I just read "Honey Pie" by Haruki Murakami (http://magna.cs.ucla.edu/~hxwang/newyorker/blog/files/honeypiemurakami.html) and "For Years" by Anna Gavalda (couldn't find a link, sorry)

Despite being originally written in foreign languages, both stories struck me with their poetic precision and depth of emotion.

The realization of how similar these stories were to my situation brought about a sweetly melancholic sigh.

So. Anything similar you'd like to share? If there's a link, I'd appreciate it (don't worry if i like the short story i'll be sure to buy the collection if it is available in my local bookstore)

Thank you. :)

My gran died last week and her funeral is next week. A couple of us grandchildren would like to say something but are worried that we'll get too upset if we just talk about Gran. Can anyone suggest a good poem or reading? She was a lively, outgoing fun-loving lady who was much loved, so I would like something that celebrates life (and prehaps aging and watching generations grow?) and nothing too morbid. Thanks

Hi,

Can anyone suggest any Crime Scene Investigation books. I dont want fictional ones, or ones that talk about famous murderes etc. I need more of a book that says why certain finger print techniques are used and what to look for in murder scenes or burglaries, and also what ridge detail you should look for in finger prints.

I hope this makes sense.

Thanks

Raines on ABC?
www.nbc.com/Raines/

Does anyone know if there's a pre-novel of tie-in book to this show?

Who's going to watch? It's about time Jeff Goldblum has his own show...he's a great actor. I'd like to see him work in a M. Night Shyamalan film...that's another subject...

Thanks

The left side is the easy side, something you may or may not want, but is easy to attain, will make you content, but may not keep your happy for long.

The right side is the hard side, something you really want, but is difficult to attain, you probably won't even get it, it will keep you happy the longest, but you may not get anything at all and may be worst off than if you had not even driven at all...

Which road do you take? You can't do straight...I know I want to go straight to...but you have to pick...left or right?

For me? I am still deciding....

She felt queer pain
That said,
"you'll find rain better
Than shelter from the rain

Days filled with fiery sunshine
Strange hurt she knew
That made
her seek the burning sunlight
rather than the shade.

In months of snowy winter
When cozy houses hold,
She'd break down doors
To wander naked in the cold?

If anyone interested will:
What was She defiantly running always from?
What was she hopefully running toward?
What compelled her not to trust refuges, but keep running as a wild horse, bolted out of a barricade?
What would inspire Hughes to write such a poem?
What in his heart identified with the constant fugitive of his creation?
Why did "SHE" Not accept the validity or Apparent comfort of any of these refuges?
What would have the convincing power only she would recognize to stop her desperate flight?
Would she KNOW it if she ever came across it?
Was she wise to keep on running?
What was Hughes' strange hurt?
What was his creation's?
What ALL was he implying was the issue in this poem?

I have always looked for true happiness but could never find it. In the eyes of many people including my family, they would assume that I would be happy, especially since I have many material objects that most people can't afford. I don't know why but I just feel like I'm searching for something that I can't attain. I want to feel truly happy, but all the happiness I feel are fake, shallow, and just an act. I want to be happy a simple act that I cannot achieve. Is it even feasable to experience true happiness? If so how?

Why is called cheating because when the artist creates any of his work he is defienetly inspired by the creation around him and we all know the CREATOR of the whole universe is one. Therefore no one can claim to be original but the Creator.
Hence the word cheat is used in the question.

A Piece of Cake - A memoir" by Cupcake Brown.

For those of you who haven't I think you should. It is about how one lady turned who life around. It is a brillant story of survival.

I personally never had the same problems she did but I was able to relate to how she felt.

This is a really good book for anyone who has ever felt that the world does not care about them, and that they are better off dead.

If you haven't read it please do.

If you have please share with me your opinions on it.
