I was recently asked to illustrate a children's book written by a family friend. It is the first publication that I will be doing, and I am not at all sure of pricing. I don't want it to be an outrageous price, as I am just getting started, but I don't know if I can ask for x amount of dollars up front and a percentage of royalties and merchandising, or how most of this stuff works. If anybody can help, please let me know. Thanks

I download my photos from my digital camera to a folder and then I can't print the full picture.
This also happens to every photo I try to print.
I would just like to print the photos without them being cropped by Windows. Any ideas?

Scrapbooking tells a story and has actual meaning for peoples lives. Americans are tired of see paint blobs on a canvas thats called art!! Art is not what they have in places like the Metropolitan Museum of art. Its what a bunch of people who cant create anything that actually resembles anything specifically human feelings and emotions. "This peice makes me feel happy" and its a smudge of yellow on a black canvas.

I get a strange urge to write something, but then when I try I find I really have nothing to write about. I don't like to write stories, or to keep a journal.

Does this happen to anyone else, and what could I write about?

Is it economic, psychological, philosophical? Is it something best done alone, with a friend, in public? Should you share it, sell it, or keep it to yourself? Do you know what it is, think you know what it is, or do you think it's unknowable. Will you take this seriously; what, do you think this is a joke? or will you just try to answer as well as you can?

One of my favorite bands sings a song that references to it, so I looked it up with these results. I never, ever read poetry, so if someone could explain what this means, that would be awseome.

Danse Russe
by William Carlos Williams

If I when my wife is sleeping
and the baby and Kathleen
are sleeping
and the sun is a flame-white disc
in silken mists
above shining trees,—
if I in my north room
dance naked, grotesquely
before my mirror
waving my shirt round my head
and singing softly to myself:
"I am lonely, lonely.
I was born to be lonely,
I am best so!"
If I admire my arms, my face,
my shoulders, flanks, buttocks
against the yellow drawn shades,—
Who shall say I am not
the happy genius of my household?

Here is my question :
Is the (philosophical) thought of Rizal inclined to what has been developed as the concept of philosophy in the History of Western thought until the modern period; or to the contemporary way of thinking in which the "I" is really what is central in the sense of thinking on philosophizing.

An old custom in India (I believe) not practiced anymore, was if a family had only daughters then the tenth girl of the family would be raised as a boy.

She/He would do all the things that a boy would be expected to do in the society including ploughing land, building structures, marrying a woman, inherit land, etc. This practise was ended only a few years ago in the very remotest communities. The reason for this is people (western world) thought it was a barbaric practise.

These women were however in no reasonable way miss-treated, except for the fact that they were expected to live as a man. These women even though of themselves as male, no matter what their gender was.

So my question is, How does the society that we live in influence our perception of our gender? Men do not cry, women can't read maps, how much of this is B.S. and how much does our society influence us to be a certain way?

Please explain your answer without stereotypes.
Thanks
