Scrapbooking tells a story and has actual meaning for peoples lives. Americans are tired of see paint blobs on a canvas thats called art!! Art is not what they have in places like the Metropolitan Museum of art. Its what a bunch of people who cant create anything that actually resembles anything specifically human feelings and emotions. "This peice makes me feel happy" and its a smudge of yellow on a black canvas.

At first I was going to say god I hope not but you've made a point.The best art is the art that captures emotion. People pay good money for art because of that. That's why I like abstracts because you can see what you want to see. Although, I wouldn't pay thousands of dollars for a smudge of yellow paint on a black canvas! lol

Umm.......your remark variety of lost the tone of a question there on the top. leaving me thinking if i'm answering the main appropriate question. sure, scrapbooking is amazingly regular - yet will by no skill replace "artwork". Scrapbooking is at present the quickest-transforming into craft industry obtainable - and has been for numerous years! yet there are nevertheless a collection of those that seem at it as a waste of time. i for my area am no longer partial to any artwork that desires a paragraph of text cloth and "clarification" to flow with it, while rather the artist basically dropped his pallet face down on a canvas, then ran over it along with his motorbike. I want a recognizable photograph.

It's more journalism or personal reflection than art. The point of contemporary visual art is to examine things that can't be put to words, abstract concepts, beauty, and other such ideas in a purely visual form. Scrapbooking is a personal reflection where visual elements are for decoration only but don't suggest any further meaning, thus not art. There's a word for it--kitsch. Like art, but not really...
