Some here has to speak for peace, so I do, and I ask - what is peace? Have someone ever seen, experience or acquired a state of perfect peacefulness? Or does peace, if there is any, make us live for ever, or does it get us rid of all the ills that we find inhabiting our mind, body or our societies, winnowing away all the good sense out of our existence as we work our way towards yet another battle with fellow human beings? Peace is an illusion, where wars are realities, conflicts cause development, confrontations make us strong and intelligent; however bloody and augmentative these things may be to the mind, and howsoever hard we may demonise them hate them, we cannot get rid of them, because they are realities, and unlike notions of peace they are part and parcel of life. What would be human history be made of if it were not written with blood of people and iron upon scorched earth over the centuries? Where would we find our heroes to glorify our own otherwise meagre and humble existence as so called peace-loving people? Peace is not only a notion but also a pretext of the hypocrite that they need to impose unjust and inauspicious wars upon the innocent. Peace is the slogan of the powerful when they want to stay in power.

There is no doubt that wars ring out knell of death for millions and the scale and the magnitude of devastation caused is unimaginable for an individual; they heartrending harms to people who are involved cannot be comprehended by the bystander; only those who take part know what does it mean to be in the middle of a battle, fighting.
But look again people fight for their countries, for their ideologies and for their causes the very things that bestow upon them glories, sense of freedom and honours, give them opportunity fight and lay their lives in honour and glory. For every person who dies in the cause, millions live in honour earned through sacrifice.

Could this then be true that we should question our perception of peace? Instead of defining peace as an absence of conflict, we can understand peace in when we are at war, can we be peaceful and at the same time engaged in a conflict? I know our physical system all the time fights against intrusions and disease but we seldom notice it, we notice ailments only when the natural balance is toppled over. We can seek better causes, and better ways to fight. We know that conflict bring out the best in us, but we can see how this best can be maintained under all circumstances, for example.

My vision of peace incorporates wars most peacefully and that for the good of the entire mankind.

World Peace?
Heres my idea, if you have things to add or questions please comment for me to reply:) Hopefully this can be achieved in a desperate future.

I thought of a way to bring world peace. (Ways) Also keep in mind world peace or peace in general is always temporary and nothing can last forever. 1. Kill everyone that doesn't speak English, but keep it secret or wipe their memories. Then get the people who are left and divide them in to many colonies around the world. Give each group an equal (equally "good") slice of land. Useless land will be for sale in small amounts. Each colony remains a separate democratic society, and democratic only. The leader must be accompanied by other people and cannot make laws or rules without peoples vote. Trading and colonist rules will be determined by each colony and each person will have the freedom to fly. All the money left from the deceased(People we killed earlier) Will be divided amongst the living. this will be used for a better start or restart in life. Anyone who doesn't like where they live will have the ability to travel to a more preferable colony. One colony shouldn't get to crowded due to each one being democratic and shaped by the people. A free newspaper made by taxes will show each colony and a general gist of how they work and where they are or what changes they had made. This will be given once a month. Any colony that gets out of hand will be given 1 chance before the inhabitants are wiped out. Anyone who disagrees with the system will be forced either to outcast on the bad land or killed. If to many people break a large law or the peace, the entire group will be gassed. Some rules and changes will be created by me and a group that is there as a distraction for my overwhelming power. I will be a dictator hidden by a faux democratic party.

A step in the right direction would be 4 Bush to vanish totally, then every country should start all over again to acheive world peace. Without Bully Boy Bush the world could only improve I'm sure. But then again the Americian goverment have probably already cloanid him!

My vision of world peace is when God sends the devil out of earth. Then we will have world peace. Until then we have ourselves to blame and the devil to use as an excuse for our corrupt hearts, and lives.
World peace will come Labyrinth, I'm not being sarcastic or silly when I say this. Nor am I looking at world peace with a Pollyanna pair of rose coloured glasses. I just know that we cannot achieve this alone. We can only have it when God comes down and rules this world He created.
This is not my vision. It is a vision from a man born thousands of years ago. I have just accepted it as the truth. It is my belief that the world will have peace but not without God governing the planet. He will one day, we just don't know when.
Hope this helps you and gives some hope to your question.

I don't think world peace can be legislated through governments. I think the only way world peace will ever be achieved is if every individual makes the commitment to live in peace. Until all humans willingly forego violence and follow peace instead... War, dischord, crime, violence and cruelty will continue to plague families, cities, and countries all around the world.

Do I think this is possible? No. But it is what I strive towards in the way I live my own life.

I read somewhere, probably in a newspaper or something, a philosophical statement that amazed me (I believe it was by Jean Jacques Rousseau). It was about the fact that the world is not fair. The gist of it was that if a single state were to be populated only by gods, democracy would shine. But since we are only people, we can only do our best. This, I believe, also applies to world peace; had a nation of gods existed, we would see what peace truly is. But since we are only human, we can only do our best to overcome our flaws in the name of peace.
Of course, if you read Plato's REPUBLIC, you will see that according to him a state whose government comprised of only an intelluctual 'elite' would be the ideal state.
Then again... who knows?

UNITY, Everyone in every country standing up and saying ENOUGH! we all have enough to go round so it should be share and share alike. Ecomomics is an illusion used to impose poverty or wealth on people that don't stand a chance. Ban currency. Give each what is needed. Treat people with respect. All work to keep everyone in comfort.

I can only confirm the two previous answers. Humans are too interested in conflict to be able to achieve peace by thier own accord.

I couldn't ever visualise world peace because of all the different religions in the world, if we were all one and the same in spite of colour then maybe? but it's a very distant dream.
