It was in my middle school Lit book, ~1993 and I think it was by Madaline L'engle. It was about a villiage somewhere and the young women were being taken by a dragon so the village mage was supposed to stop him. But the mage is rather inept. At the end a sorcerrer comes to challenge the mage for some reason I don't recall. So they battle by morphing into animals, each one bigger than the last until they both become dragons. Then the mage reveils he really was a dragon the whole time posibg as a man and destroys the sorcerror. Anyone?

Like the song says: "what we want is only what we want until its ours" then we want more or something else. Fostered by a capitalist economy. Aquiring things seems to be the answer to the pursuit of happiness in this country. Is that really the answer? When you get something do you feel satisfied?

I work as a supervisor in a manufacturing factory. I always have to pass on information and give instructions to the workers as well as train them. On the other hand they have to report their job to me in paper form and in speech. Inside the factory, there are a lot of deaf workers. I find a difficulty to communicate with them effectively. Of course I don't know sign language. Some of them are very low educated or even never attend to any former school. They cannot understand any kind of language even their own mother tongue. Thus I can't even write those information on a piece of paper to let them know my notices. I never look down on them or refuse to communicate with them. May be some of them feel inferior about themselves, they refuse to communicate and cooperate with me. I want to treat them friendly instead of using my authority to force them to do the jobs. Can anybody tell me how to communicate with those deaf workers effectively?

My best friend is black and she is married to a black man. They have 2 children that obviously look like their of African ancestry. Their 3rd child their youngest came out looking completely caucasian. They at first believed that wasn't their child and took several paternity test that all came out positive with them being the parents of that child. It made no sense since the baby looks like the average white baby blonde strait hair, white skin, small lips, and big blue eyes. The parents don't have any of these features at all and their not even light skinned black people they are dark skinned black people. The doctor told them that their child isn't albino and may get darker when he gets older. Well he's 7 years old right now and looks nothing likes his parents or his older siblings. He doesn't even look biracial he looks pure white there's nothing about him that looks like he's black. Well he's obviously black since both of his parents are. So how did this happen?

For example, I am a vegetarian, a Chinese. Once people know that I am a vegetarian, they will ask why (because of belief? or what's the philosophy behind?). I just think it is natural that people are foodie, then why can't it be natural that I am vegetarian?
Why minorities need reasoning to support their stands but majority doesn't?
