I've read the first book in the trilogy (Princess) - I'm assuming you mean the ones by Jean Sassoon. I thought Princess was defintely one of the most memorable books I've ever read and keep meaning to read the other two.
There's a book I saw in my local library about a woman who goes to middle East countries to return children to their mothers who have moved elsewhere, but I can't remember what it's called.

not without my daughter was a fun read but sort of trashily written. A little culturally imperialist too, as I recall.
