After thinking so hard about life and why we live, through prudence I have made my own philosophy about life. What if God truly existed, and once was a man like our selves but perfected himself through virtue. I mean, it says in the bible that God is a perfected being right. What if the word of God or his commandments were truly a gift to man to follow his ways and be like unto him, and what I mean be like unto him is be a god ourselves, but understanding that only throught rightousness can such glory be upon us. What if the main reason that God exist was for the survival of mankind, I mean when I look in the past every great man that had committed rightous acts not only to bring prosperity for themselves but also for the people they cared for (e.i. Muhammad the Prophet, Muhatma Ghandi, George Washington, Nelson Mandela, and Martin Luther King ). What if the sacred laws of virtue that God gave us was for the benefit for our spirits to be exalted.

For me here's what I see when people talk about me:
they don't have their own matters (they have no life of their own) to talk about, so they use mind to find something to talk about & don't seem too dull.
So, I'd like to hear YOUR point of view!
Thank You.

I would define philosophy as "the use of thought to analyze those matters not concrete within a respective field. As a matter of questioning the abstract and attempting to define such in terms generally understood". What do you think of this statement? How would you define philosophy? Give examples of philosophical thought.

My story is set in 1835 England (would this be an alright period to set a gothic romance???)

My heroine is a young 15-ish year old girl who is rebellious, free-spirited, rather peevish and passionate. She has long black frizzy hair that is untamable as her spirit, her skin is pale, emphaizing the blacknes of her eyes...... She goes to live under the gaurdianship of her distant cousin, Mr. Hawthorne, and falls in love with him.... but she is too young. He leaves on business and returns years later to finds her a lady--but society has tamed her, made her miserable and all...but yah, this is the basic flow of the story. What name do you think would best suit a girl situated in a dismal village and dwelling in a dismal manor?

Her last name is to be Wilmott (unless anyone has a better sugggestion)

Isobel Wilmott
Heather Wilmott
Evelyn Wilmott
Courtney Wilmott
Kathleen Wilmott
Rebecca Wilmott
Cadence Wilmott
Ralphina Wilmott
Wenonah Wilmott
Dorathea Wilmott
Ruth Wilmott

Does anyone else feel bad when the Genders only available are Male & Female? And then on top of that there are times when you HAVE TO make a choice between Male & Female as your Sex/Gender.

Those really upset me some how. Maybe because I have talked to so many Hermaphadites, Transgenders, Undefineds...

I think they make up enough of the population. Even if they were 1% that would be 60 Million People in the world. I'm sure the numbers are higher,.. especially with things the modern surgery, science, medicine... does.

So, I VERY vaguely remember reading and loving this book as a young child. I am 19 now, so I am still very young but don't remember that far back :)

The story was a children's book about a turtle named Mr. Cunningham. I believe he had a wife named Mr. Cunningham. It was a picture book with lots of descriptions of their life and adventures- an absolutely great read for a young child. I can't for the life of me remember anything else. Anyone know a site or a place I can go to find out what this book is? I already tried Google.
