If someone wrote a rhyme in, say, 1799, and then someone now wanted to put a tune to it and perform it as a song, where would they stand on copyright?

I know in the future, China will be the major power player on the international affairs.

but first, I want to know, how far the have the Chinese shifted the power from the U.S.?

In other words, so far how much power the U.S. has lost to China, in dealing with the international matters? How much influence does China have to the world?

I know that France is no longer considered as a super power, and so as to the European nations.

I asked a question quite innocently earlier and it was met with much hostility.

The following quote gives you an idea, what my understanding is about.
Love is not identification; it is not thought about the loved. You do not think about love when it is there; you think about it only when it is absent, when there is distance between you and the object of your love. When there is direct communion, there is no thought, no image, no revival of memory; it is when the communion breaks, at any level, that the process of thought, of imagination, begins. Love is not of the mind. The mind makes the smoke of envy, of holding, of missing, of recalling the past, of longing for tomorrow, of sorrow and worry; and this effectively smothers the flame. When the smoke is not, the flame is. The two cannot exist together; the thought that they exist together is merely a wish. A wish is a projection of thought, and thought is not love.

I don't mean this as a topical or trick question. I just can't believe that anyone has that much patience. It's like reading the entire works of Shakespear with pages missing at the vital points.

I am in love with history and it saddens me that most people regard history as if it were nothing more than a collection of facts. For the love of God, can we have some intellectual discussions on history, instead of asking questions like when someone was born or what the definition of something is? I guess its unfair to expect the people here to have any deep interest in the field, I suppose i'm just frustrated. Anyone else out there that feels the same way I do? Good for you.
