I am in love with history and it saddens me that most people regard history as if it were nothing more than a collection of facts. For the love of God, can we have some intellectual discussions on history, instead of asking questions like when someone was born or what the definition of something is? I guess its unfair to expect the people here to have any deep interest in the field, I suppose i'm just frustrated. Anyone else out there that feels the same way I do? Good for you.

I agree with you. These questions being asked sound too much like facts and nothing else. I would like to see deeper questions. I love history too, and I do not like it when people do not even care that much about something.

Because this is Yahoo! Answers, not a Yahoo! Forum, where in such deeper topics are most likely addressed. But where this is a place where one can ask a question and get an answer quite quickly, they ask questions like such. If you are looking for a place to hold a deeper discussion about history, I would suggest looking into a forum.

Post a discussion topic and we will discuss. Most of the people posting here probably ARE 8th graders that weren't paying attention in class and need someone to tell them the answers to their history exam.

Maybe the questions are asked by high schoolers wanting answers to simple questions. You should be looking elsewhere for in depth discussions. Try http://www.ezboard.com Here you can discuss rather than just answer, once.

yeah, history is interesting and it gets kind of boring just knowing how long smeone lived. it would be better ifwe talked about what the person did and why and the cause and effect chains. but i don't like talking about politics in the 18th and 17th centuries.
