I'm living proof of how this statement is inaccurate. My father was ( and maybe still is) a drug addict, I was physically and abused by my alcoholic mother up until I left for college.
I never used drugs,or drink alcohol ,or had a promiscuous lifestyle. My three siblings ,like me, have careers and families and even though our childhood wasn't the best, THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR PERPETUATING YOUR PARENTS MISTAKES.
We decided a long time ago that we would break the chain of screw ups in our family and teach our future children that everybody holds the key to their own like . We chose to be different.
I have 3 kids and I talk to the about the world as it is , never sugar coating it ,setting boundaries and letting them know that there are things that can Not be tolerated and why. Ethics is something that is acquired. I give the example and lay down the rules and tell them that at the end it's their choice and their life...

It is totally false.
The very statement implies that you are not condemning it. . You are considering "tolerating". This implies that you are not sure in which category you will put this.
Outright condemnation will mean that you believe in that and you would protect the children. Tolerating involes that either you have had a similar experience earlier and that you came out of it on your own.
The question uppermost in your mind is whether you would let your children also have the same experience and come out .Or be firm and say "don`t".

every action has a equal or opposite reaction. it also is dependant upon your perspective on the word tolerate, substitute compromise, appease, placate.do not always mean give in ,yeild, submit. and i believe that your fears are real, i am not a religeous person, but i am versed in religeon, and the sins of the fathers are not always visited upon the children.
