In ancient Hindu mythology -
Sita, the wife of Rama was kidnapped by Ravana the king of Lanka. A war ensued where the 10 headed Ravana was killed by Rama and he got back Sita.
Also in Indian history, there is Rani Padmini the wife of Rana of Mewar from Rajasthan who the sultan of Delhi Alla-uddin Khilji, wanted for his harem. She tricked him and killed herself rather than join his harem. The details are as under -
