What would you do if religion was your way to reach the "light" but you were forced to commit crimes in its name?To some its a category on a form to others a reason to die for. How do people in the middle cope with this kind of a situation?

I have a copy of Poe's Best Tales, published in 1924 by the 'modern library publishing co.' There is a tear in the title page that goes about 1/4 of the way across the page. I'm not sure if I should leave this damage there or tape it. The tear is new and I'd like to preserve the book, but tape from 2006 might ruin some of the aughenticity....?? I'm not sure what to do.
