I am just finishing watching Kenneth Branagh's 1996 version of _Hamlet_. I've watched a number of times before, but never really realized just how much a role Ophelia plays in the lives of her brother, Laertes, and her lover, Hamlet, whom the play is ostensibly about. Is _Hamlet_ just a love story wherein the main character is too obsessed with his father's death to see straight? Is Hamlet responsible for Ophelia's suicide? Given the circumstances of Ophelia's drowning, should she have had a full Christian burial?

I recently read an article written by a philosophy professor that attempts to prove/disprove the existence of the supernatural. He uses the following example--consider the following statements:

all swans are white

all perceived swans are white

He then asks the following questions to enhance his argument

Which one is true? Can we assume that all swans are white without physically observing each individual swan? How do we account for the swans we don't see? Can we discount the existence of all non-white swans simply because we don't see them?

My question to you: is this a reasonable argument for the existence of the supernatural? Do we tend not to believe in something simply because we can't physically see it? In other words, should we rely on logic and reason to explain supernatural phenomena?

If a movie of Catcher in The Rye were to be made in this decade, what would be its theme song? Granted it won't come out for awhile as I read that the author doesn't want a movie to be made, but it could happen when the copyright on the work expires.

So, lets hear it...

("Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" doesn't count--it's in the book)

The "Cherry Ames" series was written in the late fifties and throughout the sixties, and were similar to the "Nancy Drew" series. Each book involved a mystery that Cherry had to solve, but the difference was that Cherry was a nurse, and in every single book, she was a different type of nurse working in a different envionment and/or job! It was rather amusing, as her character only aged a handful of years, and she went through approximately thirty different jobs!
Have you ever read one of these books? They're rather uncommon.
