Stephen King is the best horror/occult writer today.
His Castle Rock/Maine books (Carrie,Cujo, Needful Things, Salem's Lot, etc.) are the best (never could get into the Dark Tower Books) and his short story books are wonderful (Strawberry Spring, Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption - classics). The Stand (original, uncut) and Misery are my favorite books of all time.

I love the fact that he can write outside the horror box (Gerald's Game, Delores Clairborne.) His newest novel, The Cell was a disappointment - mediocre at best. I wish he would write more along the Caste Rock line.

I love Stephen King. I love his books because not only are they scary, but they have dry humor in them. He's a great author.

I like the dry wit and sarcasm in most of his books. If you haven't read 'On Writing', well, shame on you, because you should. Even if you don't plan on being a writer, it's an incredibly awesome book.

The only good thing he ever wrote was Insomnia and it was amazing. It makes up for all the other books that fell through at their endings.

I love him and his books. ive seen him being interviewed and he is so unpretentious and down to earth. His novels are so diverse yet they have a human element that i always relate to. His writing sparked my fascination with reading in general (not just horror).
