Yes. I have to make a comment about the "soul mate" answer. There is no such thing as a soul mate. No, I'm not a pessimist. I am explaining that soul mates are created and developed through a healthy relationship. they are not something we seek out and then all of a sudden meet. Those are feelings that are misinterpreted and are typically reactions to unmet childhood needs. We see someone and some sort of connection sparks inside of us and tells us "hey, this person's gonna be my savior-emotionally". Doesn't happen that way.
Every human has an innate need to love and be loved. We can not exist without it. It is why we all have such fear. It is fundamentally the fear of not loving and not being loved. So, to get the meaning of life, you have to be able to experience love in a way that is genuine, without any other intention other than to love and be loved. You'd be surprised at how infrequent that happens.
People that say they have their soul mate right off the bat often times don't know everything about that person. they think they do but in reality, they don't. Being a soul mate takes years of practice, love and commitment.
To find that basic love, we all have to come to terms with the fact that our mates are not responsible for our life prior to meeting them and whatever issues we bring to the table, yet, it is our basic reaction to hold them accountable and responsible for how we feel once we're with them.
So once we understand how to separate our issues and deal with them on our own from the issues that might be present in a relationship, can we begin to experience that real love that grows healthy through the years and therefore gives us our purpose in life.

There is no way someone or something will bring you meaning of Life. That is why humanity asking that question over and over again from the beginning of time. Meaning of Life is stored within you and it is not something different than you...real you. As unique you are, as meaning of Life will be in relation with other meanings of it, yet the same.

I find that other people are worthy of consideration in trying to find a meaning about things. There may not be any such thing as a soul mate or a significant other, but a lot of people in this world have wants and needs that you can perhaps do something about. Also a lot of people are rather wounded by life, maybe you can do something to heal them? There is not a lot of love going around as it is, give some of yours to others.Peace and Love to all, Tim.

I agree with What To Do?. Read about alternative spirituality systems. Wicca works for me because I love nature and I like the idea that I can customize my own rites within certain guidelines. Remember, religion and spiritual growth are two different things and one doesn't depend upon the other. I'm glad certain people feel so far above all of the rest of us (eyes on Kane!) that they can afford to call us all idiots. Tsk.....tsk! Think of the karma in that.

Love? Having a child? Doing something amazing? Sometimes just, saving a snail from getting crtushed on the pavement.
Everybody has an amazing life if you think about it, even the guy that spends his whole life reading science fiction and getting fat on fast food has done something to remember.

Just be the best person you can be, and try to make the world a better place for others.
Rejecting religion is a pretty good start.
I wish you success with your quest!

Yes...Get involved with children. If you don't have kids of your own, volunteer with a group that supports kids...Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boys Town, etc. If you haven't found meaning by yourself, I promise you that the face of a child in need will lead you directly to it.

Sure thing. I don't believe in any gods. For me the meaning of life and my motivation is the process of learning and so becoming more open-minded, understanding and intelligent.

ah-- yes. you have to start the search. read, do research, ask questions. you are right to question authority - mainly religion- and find an inner meaning for yourself. i started with ideas of wicca, buddhism, taoism and picked and chose what worked for me and what didn't. heck, i'm still on that journey! good luck to you finding your way!
