We send probes on basically a universal plane. Basically, exploring the universe on a horizontal axis. Why not vertically? is it possible? Or does the universe reside on a plane that can only be explored horizontally?

THis is not a slam. I actually prefer most of the questions of atheists to that of Christians or most other religious people on here, but I have noticed this. There seems to be a desire to convert people to atheism, as if it were a religion. Does this create a paradox?

1. Avoid carrot sticks.
Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet table knows nothing of the Christmas spirit. In fact, if you see carrots, leave immediately. Go next door, where they're serving rum balls.

2. Drink as much eggnog as you can and quickly.
You can't find it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that it has 10,000 calories in every sip? It's not as if you're going to turn into an "eggnog-aholic" or something. It's a treat. Enjoy it!!!! Have one for me. Have two. It's later than you think. It's Christmas!

3. If something comes with gravy, use it.
That's the whole point of gravy. Gravy does not stand-alone. Pour it on. Make a volcano out of your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat.

4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim milk or whole milk.
If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a sports car with an automatic transmission.

5. Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control your eating.
The whole point of going to a Christmas party is to eat other people's food for free. Lots of it. Hello???

6. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New Year's.
You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is the time for long naps, which you'll need after circling the buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of eggnog.

7. If you come across something really good at a buffet table,
like frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa, position yourself near them and don't budge. Have as many as you can before becoming the center of attention. They're like a beautiful pair of shoes. If you leave them behind, you're never going to see them again.

8. Same for pies.
Apple, pumpkin and mincemeat - have a slice of each. Or, if you don't like mincemeat, have two apples and one pumpkin. Always have three. When else do you get to have more than one dessert? Labor Day?

9. Did someone mention fruitcake?
Granted, it's loaded with the mandatory celebratory calories, but avoid it at all cost. I mean, have some standards.

10. One final tip:
If you don't feel terrible when you leave the party or get up from the table, you haven't been paying attention. Reread tips: Start over, but hurry, January is just around the corner.

Remember this motto to live by:
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO what a ride!"

This is what I have heard many times over.

There are so many people who would like to emigrate to another country. This is because the pasture seems greener the other side. However, the reality is otherwise. Usually life is hard and tough and many people regretted emigrating. Some are even cheated.

However, is emigrating to another country really so bad? Surely the country emigrated to can't be all that bad. If one can adapt accordingly, wouldn't it be acceptable? If you have a perfect job experience, enough capital and contacts, can it be all that bad? Can USA be all that bad? For that matter, Canada or the UK? Or is Australia really awful for immigrants?

Is emigrating to another country all that bad?

Spending quite a bit of time on here has taught me that, try as you may, the odd person will always hate you.
I wonder if the ratio is 50-50, or 90-10, or whatever.
I'm not only talking about this website. I mean, fundamentally, in life, will you make as many enemies as you will make friends?
Or does the balance go a certain direction? If so, which one?

When I moved into my apartment I had nice hardwood floors. Now after two years I have noticed that the areas where people walk have become squeaky and creaky, while untouched areas are still firm and quiet. Is there some polyurethane coating that may have worn off in the time since I moved in? Some other reason why these areas are squeaky?

Those who despised the 'thee', 'thou' and 'ye' in the King James Bible, the KJV despite of its many 'archaic' words that the translators actually knew words like 'you'?

Do you realise that Gen 1:29, the word 'you' was use twice? And over 2600 times in the KJV???

I was watching news and most of the stories were about sexually perverted men's accusations.
I have rarely seen women ever involved this kind of sexually distracted behavior comparing to men.

Why is it so hard for men to control their sexual arousal and desire?

May I say, being unable to handle the animal-like instinct particularly the sexual instinct by humans' advanced level of logicality and rationality seems very close to animal and relatively less evolved than those who can restrain the instinctive emotion.

I am not saying being sexually active is wrong, but that they cannot manage and suppress the unreasonable instinct with their rationality and morals is hard to understand.

Some Wiccans have attempted to reconcile the lack of historical precedence of their beliefs, as scholar and Medieval history professor, Jenny Gibbons states:

We Neopagans now face a crisis. As new data appeared, historians altered their theories to account for it. We have not. Therefore an enormous gap has opened between the academic and the "average" Pagan view of witchcraft. We continue to use of out-dated and poor writers, like Margaret Murray, Montague Summers, Gerald Gardner, and Jules Michelet. We avoid the somewhat dull academic texts that present solid research, preferring sensational writers who play to our emotions ..

Does anybody agree with me that there should be a consideration of how many minutes a bench player plays to win the 6th man award. An example is Ginobli and Terry, I like them, but I don't think they're really 6th men. I consider them starters who start the beginning of the game on the bench. They play a lot of minutes, so I don't consider them real candidates for the 6th man award.

Ok, my father has always been really hard on my about my school life. So the other day, after a severe mental breakdown, My mom took me in and i dropped my math class [ i was failing] and was demoted to another class next semester. During this whole time, i had a tutor. I forgot about my second meeting with the tutor, in which he chewed me out on harshly. Then, thinking tutoring was cancelled for the Thanksgiving holiday, i did not go tuesday as well. My father called to day and sounded like i was the biggest piece of s*** in the entire world. And on top of that i have to go to his house for Thanksgiving, AND i dont think the counselor EVER told him about the class drop like he said he would. i really really dont want to go see my dad, because every time i talk to him, i come home wanting to put a bullet through my brain. And a few times i almost did it to. What should i do??
