For a certain project, I am interested in the spread of CPU speeds in the past. Or, put simply: how fast were computers 5 years ago? Or 8? Does anyone know of any research that has been done? Also, answers out of own experience will help. Thanks.

I've never been in a protestant church, so please forgive my ignorance.

If yes, what do they depict?

Okay, I don't want a lot of nasty comments.

My twin brother, Malachi, got into a car wreck with a drunk driver, and he died 3 years ago. I am pregnant with twin girls and was wondering if it would be a completely horrid idea to use Malachi for a middle name in my brother's honor. The deal is I get to name one and my husband names the other.

I chose Liliana for a first name because my mother's name is Lilian. I would love to use Malachi for my brother because we were always so close. Anyways Liliana Malachi wouldn't be too over the top considering he chose Samara Evangeline.

Would it be okay to use it as a middle name even though it is traditionally a boy's name?

I have decided to take the big leap and go natural. Although I still have my permed ends, I was wondering if flat ironing my hair would damage it a lot if I did it once every two weeks. I really do think that people with NEAT natural hair are beautiful..the thing is, how do I grow out my natural hair in a "neat" way? I remember the last time I had tried to go natural for 6 months but it had got too hard to manage! Are their any easy and healthy ways to manage natural hair? If there are any books, websites, or people that can help me, dont be afraid to let me know. Thanks!

I've never participated in the catholic church but now with my grandmothers passing I feel odd not participating in the lords prayer and the rosary. Truth be told, I dont know the prayers. Should I learn them so that I can participate in the prayers for her funeral?

it's a single pulley connected to the two blocks and connected by its center to the wall. Block A is on top of block B with block B being pulled straight to the left (P)
u = 0.2 at all contact surfaces (neglect pulley friction)
A is 80kg
Determine the magnitude of force P required to move the 40kg plate B to the left.

Thank you, Chad J, for inspiring this revision.

How did the first DNA sequence get encoded with the instant ability to absorb food and reproduce itself? Being the first one, it had nothing to "evolve" from. And, if it got it wrong, it would be gone within a few hours.

"How long will it take a monkey with a typewriter to randomly type just the first 12 letters of the abc in the correct order?" The probability is: once in 3 billion years! (assuming he continuously types 1 letter per second). [The formula is : 26^12 seconds]

And, if we want a team of monkeys to produce, just once, all the 26 letters of the abc in the correct order, how many monkeys will it take? The probability is: 400 trillion monkeys might do it once in 400 trillion years!

So, how did the first DNA get encoded with all its genes, each gene (not each atom) being the equivalent of one letter?

Or, maybe, all evolutionary time estimates are wrong, and life in the universe did start trillions of years ago?

How exactly is "*YAWN* Thanks for the 2 points." a violation of yahoo terms and service? Did the rules change in the religion/spirituality section so that now showing signs of boredom and then manners by thanking someone is a violation?

That something had to create something that had to create this, then had to create that.

Ok, but.. why does it have to be a being that made it? a all super powerful being? that something with actual thought and imagination had to make the thing that created the thing that made that and made it in 6 days or what ever crap.

Why can't it be something a little more realistic? It is like saying a butterfinger candy bar made everything, you can have faith that it happened, but you are basically fooling yourself.

Anyways, maybe you should accept the Big bang theory, the super string theory, the 11 dimension theory... sorry christians but your days of ignorance are almost to and end, and thank god, I mean.. Thank science.

Being at one time a HGV driver I have seen numerous Incidents where there was only one escape when the traffic ahead was at a standstill, that escape from full impact collision at maximum motorway speed being the hard shoulder. I dread to think of the consequences of not having that escape. What do you think?
