Okay, I don't want a lot of nasty comments.

My twin brother, Malachi, got into a car wreck with a drunk driver, and he died 3 years ago. I am pregnant with twin girls and was wondering if it would be a completely horrid idea to use Malachi for a middle name in my brother's honor. The deal is I get to name one and my husband names the other.

I chose Liliana for a first name because my mother's name is Lilian. I would love to use Malachi for my brother because we were always so close. Anyways Liliana Malachi wouldn't be too over the top considering he chose Samara Evangeline.

Would it be okay to use it as a middle name even though it is traditionally a boy's name?

I think that under the circumstances that would be just fine.

Yes, because it is honoring someone! It would be ok to name her Liliana Fredrick or Liliana Micheal after a family member or close friend!

I think Liliana Malachi sounds great! Congratulations on little Liliana Malachi and Samara Evangeline!

I think Liliana Malachi is a wonderful name! I don't think many people will realize that Malachi is a boy's name, and I think it works really well with Liliana. I think it's very nice that you're keeping your brother's memory alive, and hey, they flow together really well. Liliana Malachi is beautiful <3
On the other hand, I seriously don't like Samara Evangeline. Samara is okay, but I absolutely hate the name Evangeline.

I think it's a fine idea, and the name sounds lovely. I would hesitate to use Malachi for a girl's first name, but for the middle name, to honor your brother, I see nothing whatever wrong with it.
I have friends who use her maiden name as a middle name for all their children. As it happens, that name is also a girl's first name. She asked her husband if he wanted to use the name even as a middle name if they had a son, and he said yes. I also know people whose daughters have boyish middle names for the exact same reason. The name has a family connection that supersedes its masculinity or femininity.

Samara, like from the movie The Ring?

I see nothing wrong with Malachi as middle name.

If you were very close with your brother who has now passed on, than it would not only but honorable but completely appropriate to use his name as the middle name. I think the entirety of the name sounds great. My cousin used Anne as a middle name in honor of my aunt who died, when his daughter was born. Its completely acceptable.

I think it is great that you want to honor your brother that way. What you can also do, if later down the road if you have a boy is use it for a first name.
