I began dealings with them and became suspicious. So, I called Phonebusters (they are part of law enforcement) to check them out. After about 30 minutes on the phone giving the officer information he explained the Torcan was essentially a criminal organization and if I handed my money over I would have never seen it again. The company is under investigation and I encourage you (and the others on this thread) to contact Phonebusters. Not only can you register your complaint, but they will tell you what you need to do to keep your identity safe. In my case I filled out the application and corresponded by Fax, so they have a lot of valuable information.

I called the Canadian BBB about this company. Torcan Financial is a scam. They want 10% of the loan sent to them by moneygram. It is against the law in the USA and Canada for a company to ask for a fee or deposit to be paid before a loan will be given. do not send them any information.

This company should be listed as a fraud company based on the information that i have obtained. They say that they can ask for a deposit up-front because they are the direct lender and not a broker. I'm still trying to find out if that is true but I know that it is illegal to ask for a security deposit on any type of loan in Canada. They are not listed with the Better Business Bureau and nobody knows anything about them. They don't even have a website listed on google. My advice to you---------Stay away from these crooks, keep the hard earned money that you have and try to get a loan from somewhere else. If you need a loan it probably means that you are desperate already and giving these people money upfront means making yourself more desperate.

I've been in contact with Daniel Blair and Clay Dean. They are apparently sending back my 10% down. I have contacted my lawyer and am giving a week and a half for the cheque to show up. If it does not my lawyer will be ready to take action. Their website is still up and I thankfully have been communicating via email so I have a papertrail on them. I'll keep you posted as to if I do get the deposit back or not.

Most likely a scammer.

A search of the web brings up only questions here on Yahoo! Answers. A legit company would have a website.

Generally, they will approve you for a loan but require you to pay a fee to them via wire or Western Union. If you pay the fee, they disappear.
