Would they be able to be housed together? I have a docile baby sulcata, and would like to get an adult three toed box turtle. I was wondering if for the time being I could house them together, buying the turtle and a new mercury vapor, then waiting until my next check to buy a new (is the 100 gallon the enormous tank?) for the three-toed. I wasn't sure if the three-toed would attack the sulcata...I know I wouldn't reccomend two different species housing together, but I was wondering if just for the time being (a week or two) if they could survive. Thanks!

has anyone here read more than one Holy book(assuming you've read at least, or a decent amount of, one)

What have you read?

The Qur'an
The Bahavad-Gita
(Tankh + New Testament) Bible
Talmund
Lao Te Ching
Confucian Analets
Dhammapada

please state which ones you've read, and state with one was in your opinion the "best" one(maybe the one you agree with the most, the one that was easiest to read, the one that left the best mark on that person you beat up, i don't know)

I address this question to Christians because that is my own background; I am now an Atheist. My particular situation makes me curious about those whose experience may be similar to mine: raised in the faith and then fell away from it. What was it that drew you back? What convinced you that God was calling you, and calling you to be a Christian? How did you reconcile the return to faith, having at one point in life rejected it?

Your courteous answer are appreciated.

I am doing some research to write a sci-fi story in a somewhat distant future and there is something I don't quite understand about plate tectonics.

I'm not sure exactly what fuels them. I know liquid water is needed, as well as internal heat that can be derived from the core itself or radiactive material. I've heard the atmosphere has some impact too. But what puzzles me more is size. Supposedly a planet that is too small cannot maintain tectonic activity for long. What are we talking about here, mass, volume or both? And going a bit further, is there some kind of estimation on the size a planet should be to maintain activity?

Thanks very much in advance to whoever answers.

What would be the strategy behind kicking the ball instead of receiving after you've won a coin toss?
Have you ever seen a team do that?

American Football, if it wasn't obvious.

Most, if not all, of us don't remember being aware of anything before our first years of life, and certainly not before we were born. Our awareness, as we experience it, seems to come with our body. However, it is possible that there is simply a process that erases memory of previous form of awareness. For example, we don't remember our awareness when we were six months old, but yet seeing colors, etc. is already quite a lot of awareness. The same might be true for a possible awareness before we were born. Perhaps we forgot it because it was a different form of awareness.

Why is this considered by some a strange hypothesis whereas the materialistic hypothesis is not. Every modern thinker agrees that materialism doesn't work anymore. It has been replaced with physicalism, which is nothing else than a statement that everything can be reduced to the laws of physics. Sure, but laws of what? Laws need substance. If it is not matter, why not laws of awareness in some form? What else?

If so, then are you proposing that we force your religious beliefs onto other people, whether they like it or not, just because that's what you believe? Basically, that's what some people actually want to to with our government and school system.

.... because we are so spoiled and far outnumbered?

Our "advanced" military can hardly handle a small nation and is bankrupting us. And, we believe we are entitled to having someone pay $500,000 in health care to keep us alive for one or two years longer.

Is this unsustainable?
