I mean if you google or yahoo image search Depleted Uranium, you will get alot of very *be advised* graphical pictures not for the faint of heart.

There has been some coverage on it in the media, just not in the USA. Most of the media outlets in the USA are owned by defense contractors and they don't want the people to see what the weapons that they have developed really do.

Google and Yahoo images don't constitute all of the media. After the conclusion of the UN Peace Enforcement Mission involved in the removal of Iraqi troops from Kuwait in 1991, the TV news "talking head" segments were filled with discussions and speculations about the use of depleted uranium in munitions. The subject also was covered, ad nauseum, after the NATO incursions into Bosnia and Kosovo.
