Almost Nobody Ever Bring's Up 2Pacalypse Now When Talking About Pac People Alway's Bring Up All Eyez On Me , Me Against The World , Makavelli The 7 Day Theroy , I'm definitely the only one that feels this way, but I thin 2Pacalypse Now is 2Pac's best album after Me Against the World. I say that because Tupac was a much better socially conscious/political rapper than he was as a gangsta rapper. THERE, I SAID IT!! I guess that's why I love this album so much.
I kinda like it's sound. Like I stated earlier, it makes more raw. Once you listen to 2Pac raps, you could tell that there is a huge influence of preceding California heroes such as Ice Cube, Ice-T, or even Paris. 2Pac adressed social problems like police brutality, teenage pregnancy, poverty, drug use, etc. more so than he did on any of his succeeding albums. He may not have been able to beat any of the formentioned MCs in a rap battle, but with his thought provoking lyrics, it doesn't matter at all. Listen to the albums more powerful moments like "Words of Wisdom" or "Brenda's Got a Baby" and you'll agree. There are a few joints that are straight up gangsta tracks though. They're not as compelling or as good as the other more insightful joints, but they ain't bad. There's even a feel-good track within the militant ones ("If My Homie Calls"). The way I see it, this is probably one of the last great albums of the Afrocentric, right fist era of hip-hop (assuming it came after Apocalypse 91...). I don't know how many people will agree this one is a sleeper classic. A lot of people didn't see it back in the day, probably because of the production. A lot of people won't see it now, because of the production, the rookie-sounding flow in some of the songs, and the fact that it just ain't as great as Me Against the World.
Regarding the album, it's Tupac's rawest album. It's sound is a little unpolished, but that makes it more raw in my opinion. The production is unfinessed, and considering the tracks that Dr. Dre, ATCQ, Large Professor, and the Bomb Squad were doing, it sounds a little dated, even for '91
