I mean unless your team absolutly sucks, can you ever really not be biased? Like when my team stinks and has no hope of winning, I always cheer against their biggest rival. Even most sports casters are biased and it comes out alot more then people think.

I agree, there's no such thing. As a Red Sox fan, I ALWAYS root against the Yankees even when we're not playing them. As a Patriots fan, I HATE Peyton Manning. I don't think there's any way I can't.

I mean, if you're a true fan, you're going to root for your team no matter what, even if they're having a bad year. You should always think your team is the best no matter what. If you don't that just makes you a fairweather fan...

Yes there is. It's called being an objective sports fan with a favorite team. Or being a realist... take your pick. Some people have so much trouble on here discussing things objectively. I'm a huge Florida fan; I live for football season. But, I know when we are overranked, underranked, will most likely lose, etc. and I have no problem saying what I think. I'll fight for my team if people make personal remarks, but when comments are about talent on the team, I try to speak objectively. Plus, that way when you give your honest opinion, people will believe you aren't just a "biased SEC fan"... or so the saying around here goes.

Here are some things I believe:
-Florida will most likely lose to LSU this weekend, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a close upset. Florida will NOT blow them out of the water.
-LSU could and would beat USC in the national championship game.
-The SEC is the toughest conference to play though "right now", although the PAC-10 is closing the gap. After the PAC-10, there is a gap and then the Big 10, Big East, etc. I think in a few year, the SEC and PAC-10 may be about equal. The PAC-10 needs to have a couple more good years first, and this is one of their good years.
Florida would most likely lose against USC this year, but not next year.

I think I'm pretty honest. All in all, you can have a favorite team that you root for every week, and live for during football season, but you have to break it down between rooting for your team and talking about the game. They are two very different things.

Well I'm pretty unbiased, I've picked Carolina to lose 3 of 4 weeks in pick'em so far and I have no blind faith that they're going to turn things around and make a run at the playoffs until I see some defense. STILL, though, I have to say I'm biased a little, it's impossible to not be. Detroit has sucked for 50 years and are winning games right now but I haven't heard a peep out of them, so maybe they're not ready to be biased yet...not much to brag about. I just like the sport, I have my particular teams that I follow as a fan, but I can acknowledge that they're not the best, I even laughed when the AP put Wisconsin at #5....I'm not sure they deserve to be top 10...

Whatever,.... I ranted...I'm done now.

It isn't so much a question of whether a fan is biased toward his or her team, but whether or not they are driving the bandwagon.

I true fan will cheer on their teem through thick and thin and show up religiously every week. Or at least listen to the game on the radio if it isn't televised.

A bandwagoner will switch teams faster than they can change their underwear. They ride the team until the team starts to suck, then they jump off that bandwagon onto another. They are just as wishy washy as the Democrats trying to rethink how they are going to screw up the country.

there is not any such concern as independent media insurance. actuality is relative. There are 2 sides to each tale.... a minimum of. or perhaps then, you're nonetheless no longer getting the comprehensive tale. and tv "information media" is rarely considered information. Its only over-sensationalized incorrect information used to strengthen viewer rankings. Political pundits use theatrics and rhetoric to purpose and bypass off their critiques as data. turn off the television and study your information. stay removed from pundits and televised information. information articles are a pair of hundreds situations much less biased than television information.

I am. That's not to say I don't have a favorite, but I do look at the stats and match ups and try to deliver a thought-out and insightful response to intelligent questions. I'm a Charger fan, but when they hired Norv Turner I knew there would be no dominance this year. I'm sick of being right all the time.

Probably, but it's hard for me to imagine.

I pride myself in being as un-biased as humanly possible and there are still those times where I can't help myself.
It's human nature. Some people just take it to the most bizarre extremes....especially here on Yahoo Answers.

You know I had really never thought about it, but you do make a good point. I think if your really a true "fan" of your team then it probably is impossible to be unbaised.
