He was the only one tried and convicted so far, but the conviction was overturned on appeal, because the charge was too harsh. Because of this, we know about the Jena 6...we didn;t find out when the kids hung the nooses, we didn;t find out when the kid was beaten. We found out when it was revealed that the town charged and convicted a child of a harsher crime than was committed. I just keep hearing people say 'there is a difference between tried and convicted'. Seems like there is very little knowledge on this topic, but quite a few misguided opinions...
