The soul (pyche or psuche in the Greek) is the combination of faculties that consists of the mind, intellect, will, and emotions. The soul performs rational and intellectual functions.

Spirit usually stands for "breath," or "life force." The Spirit is life. The Native Americans called it "The one that flows through all." Kabbalists call it "Light" or sometimes "God". It's the creative force, the connecting force. That which makes everything "one". It's our link to abundance. It is related to Jung's Collective Unconcious but not quite the same. Spirit is the connection to the cosmos and all other beings.

The soul is the person or life a person has.

The spirit is the force that causes the body to live.

At death, the spirit or life force goes out and the soul(you) ceases to exist.

For example: a car, with all its parts is a car. You, with your personality, physical makeup are a soul. The car can only work if the key is put in the ignition. You as a human, can only work when your "key", the spirit or life force is in you. Pull the key out: car stops. Your spirit goes out: you die.

A soul is the immortal part of a person that carries on after life ends. A spirit may or may not have ever had a corporeal body, and is immortal in it's own form. Hence 'The Holy Spirit', and not 'The Holy Soul'.

The spirit of a man is the highest part of his nature, and that which makes him most like God. Jesus said "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship him in Spirit and in truth." *John 4:24.
According to the Bible, man is spiritually dead - separated from the Life of God through sin.
Jesus taught a man must be born again - made spiritually alive and restored to fellowship with God.
To this end He offered Himself on the cross to make atonement for sin, so a man could by faith be restored to God and receive the gift of eternal life.
Once this life is received, the process of renewing the soul begins. The soul is also the inner part of a man, but it is intermediate between the spirit and the flesh, or natural realm. The more subject to the spirit one becomes, the more like God he becomes. Those who mind only the appetites and the desires for earthly things become more like animals than like God.

'Soul' is the human spirit, and 'spirit' is a divine portion of a higher being. Basically, soul refers to the human's spirit. Blame English for the difference.

None. You can even toss in "self" as part of that. It depends on which faith you are referring to. They are merely labels like "Nirvana" is to "heaven."
