New York Governor Eliott Spitzer announced that New York State is going to make it easy for illegal aliens to get valid New York State driver's licenses. WHY? Does moveon own him too? Is that going to make them better drivers? Why on Earth do you want to make it easier for someone who came into this Country illegally and flaunted our laws already, to get a driver's license? This has got to be one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. Could it be that the whole state jumped the shark? First they elect Lucky Chuckie Schumer to the Senate. Then they follow that blunder by electing Hillary Clinton to the other Senate seat. Now they have a Governor who's obviously undergone a lobotomy or something worse. What's next? Are they going to let Armpitimijhad lay his memorial wreath to the 19 hijackers at Ground Zero and spit on the flag?

Yeah, Right! I'm POSITIVE that once they get a drivers license they're all gonna run right out and buy insurance!!! I can hear the conversation with the agent right now; "OK Mr. Undocumented Alien, we have a special rate just for people like you. Basic coverage will only cost you a BAZILLION BUCKS A YEAR IN ADVANCE because we never know when ICE will be picking you up and sending you to whatever backwater spawned you."

The real issue, in my estimation, is not whether they can now buy insurance (once they have the license) but that they can now get all the OTHER documentation that makes it easier to live in this country. Once they have ONE iron-clad, government-issued piece of ID, then all the others (except a ss#) become available. One ID turns into 2, then with 2, you go somewhere and you can do things you couldn't when you had NO ID. And so on...
How will we be able to identify them, if they have 3 or 4 pieces of ID that citizens have? We won't be able to. Then there just won't be any difference between them and us, apart from a US birth certif/ss#. But lots of places don't ask for those... This may be Spitzer's way of creating an Amnesty for illegals (in NYC, then spreading outward, with gov't ID in hand), to replace the one that just got shot down in the Congress.

Sustainable increases in license fees collected (states that will not offer undocumented aliens licenses will lose out as the illegals come here to apply!

Increase collection of taxes and/or fees in the state of NY? CHECK!
Help the rich find a labor force to exploit? CHECK!
This little venture of his will pay off nicely (for him).
I won't be surprised if his campaign warchest grows to "presidential" size very soon.
And since he does not have to depend on public schools to educate his children/grandchildren, and does not have to use an emergency room for injuries ... for him it's all gains / no losses.

Most of the rich in the USA are for illegal immigration, they want the cheap slave labor since slavery has been abolished, Mexican who are willing to work for below poverty wedges are the next best thing. That's why corporate America, George Bush,and most politicians,Republicans as well as Democrats who are heavily invested in various corporations,cheap labor = more profits....Its all about GREED!!!
And of course the Mexicans can work for below poverty wedges because they don't mind living 12 bodies in a one bedroom apartment,they know all the benefits that are available in the US and take full advantage of them, 1 US dollar will get them 10 Mexican pesos so 8 dollars an hour is like 80 dollars an hour when they send US dollars back to Mexico and tread the in for pesos they can build quite A nest egg back home...So with the Mexicans its all about Economics !! In my opinion they have no love and feel no allegiance toward America,They believe southwest America is there land anyway. 9 times out of ten the person who is double parked will be a Mexican...i wonder how much they would want to become citizens if the draft was reinstated ???

Thomas ^ is right. As much as I loathe the idea of Illegals driving, They DO. Anyone living in NY or going there is at risk of being hit, tourists, pedestrians, school busses, tractor trailers and suv's.
WHY the USA cannot deport would be a question I would ask, but then again I still wonder WHY the USA still teaches foreigners how to fly planes here.

I wonder if I can hold the City of NY and the State itself liable if an illegal drives to my state on that license and hits me. It will make an interesting few years of litigation.

Allow me to say: Giving someone a license is a FAR CRY from spitting on the flag or the tragedy at ground zero. Trying to link the two is only to encourage anger....
That being said, my feeling is that if they are going to be driving here (which they will be- with or without license), I would prefer that they have to go through instruction and take the test rather than just drive around not knowing the right way to handle the vehicle. It can be a family crossing the street, and, I would prefer that our drivers be more- not less- capable.

Maybe he's doing this because he knows they're going to drive anyways. If they have a license, they can get insurance. This will protect New York residents who are injured in an accident caused by an illegal with insurance. It will also reduce the sympathy anyone might have for stern punishment of illegals caught driving without a license or insurance.

I do not know if he was thinking at all. I am so tired of the libs bending over backwards for these law breakers. The break our laws and then get rewarded for it. What other laws can the break and get away with.
