a captain is usually chosen, not for his skills, but as a man who can get the troops going, full of heart and soul, and not always points. they have usually been with the team a long time, and are loved by the fans.
there are always some exceptions to this, such as the islanders naming guerin captain. having never played captain before (except filling in for someone injured) he has virtually no experiance. i guess he got the "c" because he leads by example, but still, wouldn't you make a long time islander a captain?
of course, guering could turn out to be the best man to ever wear the "c".
my question to you is, would you take the chance of making a new player a captain?
