The longest the doctor said she would let me go overdue is two weeks at the very most. That would only put me at four weeks for being dialted! Thank god!

I was dilated to 3cm for almost a month.

There is no way to predict when labor will begin based on what your cervix is. If there was, doctors would be bookies in Vegas to make extra cash. ;)

Rest assured that your baby will be born in the next 3-4 weeks at the most.

I know you are excited, but try to take a step back.

It's great that you are already dilated and effaced a little. That's called "cervical ripening," and the early stage of labor is often shorter if you are already ripe.

However, it really doesn't mean you will go into labor any sooner. I was 3 cm and 100% for a full 3 weeks. This isn't so uncommon.

So be ready, but try to relax and enjoy the last days or weeks of your pregnancy by doing things that may be hard to do once the baby comes.

Good luck!

It could be today, it could be 2 weeks. My wife dialted to 3 cms, stayed there for 10 days before going into labor. Good Luck.

PS after 38 weeks, it's Game On!

I personally don't know because I had to be induced at 39 weeks due to REALLY high blood pressure.. BUT My friend just had her baby last night, 2 weeks ago she was dilated to 1.5 and the next week 3 and then the next Friday she had her baby. BUT it is different for everyone. My SIL was dilated to a 1 one after noon, contractions started that night and she went to the hospital and was already 3.5. So you can just never tell... FORTUNATLEY you CANT be pregnant forever lol... and certainly not two more months for you.. SO Good luck and Congrats in advance!!

Hi, I was 3.5 centimeters dilated for two weeks and 80% effaced, so you still have awhile to go. Or you could go tomorrow :) Babies come when they are ready. But keep rested, eat lots of healthy foods and drink lots of water to help prepare yourself for the birth. Watch for the mucous plug as thats a greater sign. Good Luck with it!

lol. I was just like that from 36 weeks through the first 37 hours of labor. Didnt change a freaking BIT for nearly TWO DAYS of labor.

Each person is different.

Go take a walk and pretend life is normal.... lol I know its impossible but its really the best thing.

at 34 weeks i was 2cm and 80% effaced i was admitted and got steroid injections to develop the baby lungs. but i didnt go in to labour i was induced at 39 weeks because of diabities but my labour was very quick as soon as the broke my waters and put me on syntocin i was in hard labour i delivered 2 hours later with just gas and air which i gave up on but with in the hour i had a shower and my tea and toast.

now that was just me you are at 38 weeks so your body is gearing up to labour and your wait wont be to long you could go in to labour any time now and if you dont when you do go dont hang about esp if your water break as your labour will be quicker as some of the work is already done.
to help speed things up,
try walking, sex, hot curry's, or nipple stimulation best to do that with a breast pump but you have to do it every hour for 15 minutes for it to work and be careful it can bring on very strong contractions

good luck and i hope your not waiting to long

ive just seen ur update get walking and lots of sex the fact the mucus plug is gone your very close on my second i lost it in the morning i had lots of pressure then that night contractions started and i was in labour but i have heard it can take up to two weeks but is generally earlier

i'm surprised that they despatched you residing house! From this element on, it ought to bypass the two very without delay or very slowly. I want i ought to offer you a time line, because of the fact i've got been the place you're, and that i be responsive to which you're OVER this! in actuality that extremely everyone seems to be distinctive, and your physique will purely bypass into finished labor whilst that is waiting. I went from 4 to 9 and in a position to push in approximately 30 minutes... yet you're thoroughly distinctive. while you're apprehensive (as i could be), call your OBGYN and tell them you want to bypass back and insist that she gets them to confess you! perfect of success for the start of your captivating toddler!!!

I was 2 cm dilated for 2 months...sorry!

But I don't know how "effaced" I was if any.

My baby was 3 days late.

Congratulations and good luck :)
