Thru thick and thin, who is always there for you no matter what.

Who has proven to not be just a "fair weather friend"?

How have they proven that to you?

Cherry, thanks for the honest answer. Why do you say "did have my mom". You still *do* no matter where she is.

Well at this time, no one but myself. I had my mother who loved me unconditionally...no matter what I did, she may not have agreed with my behavior, but she never turned her back on me or slammed the door on me. During my teenage years, I really hurt her a lot..not intentionally, but I was extremely selfish and wanted to do my own things...against her wishes. I do not have anyone in my life at the moment, that I know of, who would stick by me through thick and thin.

My husband and my dad- Best support system for me.

If you want to know the truth, my friends have all at one time or another during the course of our friendship, in some small way; let me down. Not seriously enough to end the friendship, but I remember small incidents through the years where I noticed hiccups - where there were not always there for me. My husband loves me no matter what - bless his heart. He's love is truly unconditional. And my dad was always there for me as a child, teenager and adult. He lets me live my life and make mistakes but always was available if I needed someone to help me through the tough times. (Since I have been married-now my husband fills that role.)

Finding unconditional friendship and love is a life long journey. It is rare. I have the greatest friends in the world, and I consider myself lucky. But it is a huge expectation for someone to Always have your back. If your are referring to complete betrayal (fair weather) than I can say I have never been betrayed by my closest friends. If you have a fairweather friend that betrays you, and then is your best buddy, there is something really wrong.

I'm lucky that I can't just answer this question with one person. Of course my five year old daughter always has my back (unless I'm making her eat veggies). My grandmother has also always been there for me and never judged me, even through some of my worst points (and there were plenty really bad ones) I also have a handful of friends who have had my back since about 7th grade, and still do even though I now live half the country away.

That would be my spouse and God.
They are there when I'm sick or feeling under the weather with a kind word of hope and a hot bowl of soup with crackers.
They are there to pick me up when I fall.
They are there when no one else is around.
They are always open to talk to.
They are the ones I can place my trust in and know that the answer I get is genuine and not something they think I'd like to hear.
They both tell me went I'm wrong. Praise me when I'm right.

My so called family friends turned out to be looking out for themselves and trampling on those to get where they are now.

My cousin Jessica and my boyfriend of almost 8 years, Mike. I can tell either of them anything. My cousin has been there for me since she was born. I only have a brother and she has 2 brothers, so we've always called ourselves sisters. My boyfriend helped me find who I am. I know it sounds odd to have someone else help find who you are, but he loves me unconditionally and has allowed me to be me, even if he doesn't agree with it. For example, I love oldies like The Standells, The Animals, The Who, and The Doors, I also like country music like Brad paisley, Neal McCoy, and Lonestar. He dislikes all that stuff and still loves me! He also stays up late at night with me through my crying fits when I am upset. Both Jessica and Mike are everything to me. I really don't know what I would do without them.

My husband and daughter.

I watch kids in my home, and if I am having a bad day... my 14 year old daughter will actually ask if she should stay home and help with the kids. I am so proud of her.

My husband is always there for me even when I am being a B****, he never says anything bad. He will just ask what I need help with.
I am a very lucky happily married (10 years) 35 year old :)

So far my parents are the only ones who have always had my back. They loved me at my worst and applauded my best. They have been through it all and are still standing. If allowed, they would put my needs in front of their own and would help me even at their own peril. Either one would lay down their life for me without hesitation. I would do the same. No matter what, I can count on my parents to support my good decisions, encourage me when I am making bad decisions and stand by me no matter what. They always have.

I have three girls that no matter what - they are always there for me. Even though now we are separated and don't see each other but only like once a year... we phone a lot and e-mail a lot. They are my best friends.. and even though we hardly see each other - when we do.. its like we've never been apart. Whenever one of us is going through something... we are always calling/writing/visiting each other. =)

Another person is my Mother. She is my bestest friend... through thick and thin.

One of my best friends since the third grade. When my grandfather died, he was there for me. Even when no one else understood how much I was hurting, he did. He has been there through my illness, and I know that when I feel sick, he will be there to help me.
