Actions without understanding the cause of the problem always create unintended negative consequences.

To reduce pollution that destroys the ozone layer, the Kyoto protocol, under the Clean Development Mechanism paid poor countries to cut green house emissions. One of the pollutants, HFC 23 was targeted for reduction under this program.

What happened is that the poorer countries INCREASED their production of this ozone depleting gas because they could claim more carbon offsets and get more money – to the tune of $5BILLION per year!

The same is true with deforestation. Kyoto pays countries for planting trees, so first they cut down existing old growth forest in order to get the money to replant these forests they cut down! Deforestation is very profitable under Kyoto!

I've NEVER had this problem before. The last month I have not been able to sleep at night. I feel tired and get in bed, but lay there for hours and only end up getting about 4 hours per night. Then I'm SO tired the next day so that I can hardly function. I've missed work because of it. A few nights I've just been laying there and my heart starts racing, but I don't feel worried or anxious or anything like that. Don't say thyroid because that's not it :)...I've been on the same thyroid meds for sixth months and my levels were good last time I was at the dr. I'm also on Asmanex and I'm 21. Any suggestions?

If Countrywide or any other bank raised their relatively low CD rates, i'm sure they would be flooded with deposits. Countrywide just announced a $11.5 draw on their credit lines. I'm sure if Countrywide upped their CD rates to around the same rate that' s on the credit lines, around 6 1/2%, Countrywide could easily draw in $20+ billion in fresh deposits. In summary, I don't understand the headlines screaming "liquidity crisis" while banks are apparently not hurting at all for deposits and keeping their savings rates relatively low. Countrywide's highest yielding CD, for balances over $98,000, is 5.50%.

When a circuit is completed , the chemicals in the battery reacts and free electrons travell in the wire.

So It is said chemical energy is converted into electric energy.

However, whenever electricity is formed there must be magnetic energy surrounding it. SO, is chemical energy is converted into magnetic energy too/

If so , are electric energy and magnetic energy produced in ratio?

I'd much rather use a paper bag for my grocery shopping.
If you double bag them you can reuse them again at the store.
You can recycle paper bags much easier like using them for school text bookcovers (I did this when I was younger) & there are many more ways you could reuse the paper bags.
My point is this; It seems like more & more people use plastic bags b/c paper bags are no longer being offered.
Why don't they offer paper bags anymore?

Do you need to do anything before eating it? Like... peeling it? Are there any special things I have to know first? Is it like an apple where you can eat almost all of it or something?

on gas?

I think the image conservatives have of liberals is that they are all tree huggers and all this kind of stereotype.

They attack global warming and thats fine dude whatever.

Lets assume global warming is a big lie, and I'm not saying it is I'm just saying lets assume,

wouldn't you want to get a car that would give you the best fuel efficiency?

Forget al gore and all this stuff about carbon and mercury emmissions, wouldn't buying things that are more energy efficient be better cause then you'd have more money to buy things or donate money to the republican of your choice whose running for office.

Greed is good!

How sad is it that the media has been covering the trapped miners in Utah like they were something special.

People die at their jobs every day, and thats unfortunate, so why cover these guys...

I guess the worst part about it (and the basis for the question) is that there are so many more tragedies going on in the world and it seems like Americans don't care....for example...

MILLIONS of people dying in Africa due to hunger, genocide, aids, and poverty.

227,000 people killed in ONE WEEK during the Tsunami in 04

100,000 Iraqis killed in the war.

And all we care about are some unlucky miners in Utah ????

Can somebody explain this to me ?
