Hi,

According to a store that sells "spy equipment," a tapped phone will usually show the following signs.

1. You hear audible popping during conversations.

2. Static or volume changes during conversations.

3. The phone "emits unusual sounds while on the hook."

The site HowStuffWorks.com explains that it is "relatively easy for someone else to tap into your line, especially if you live in a dorm or an apartment building." Fortunately, it's also relatively easy to catch someone who is tapping your phone. Automatic tape recorders and phones that light up when an extension is in use will help you to identify amateurs.

Of course, tapping someone's phone is against the law. If you have evidence, you should contact the police.

thanks,

Mike

You are not being tapped. Trust me. You have a line problem where someones frequency is crossing yours. I get that all the time in this neighbor hood. It happens with the cordless phones all the time. You can call your phone company and they will put a mechanism on your line to help guard against it or increase some frequency so that it doesn't happen. It was happening to our new one for a good 3 months until we finally found out whose phone was doing it in the neighborhood. It was our neighbor across the street talking on his cordless phone. There is also a mechanism on your cordless that can be switched or certain numbers you can push to change your frequency. Our phone didn't have those but his did so he switched his frequency and we haven't had a problem since.

your line appears to have a fault, call your phone company and have then run a test for "hears others on line" or HOOL, or cross talk.... and have them send a repair tech...

IF your line was being tapped, there would be NO way for you to know... all wire taps are done electronicly now, and there are no signatures that you could pick up, even with the crap the spy stores try to sell, that would let you know the line was being tapped..

Well, when people tap your line they don't usually TALK because...well..then YOU would know they are listening to your conversation. It is most likely be your wires are crossed with someone elses phone (harmless, not someone tapping your phone)
