There is a verse in the english translation of the Quran that has been mistranslated, as is the case with some other verses in the Quran. In Arabic, the word "daraba" used in Surah 4 is supposed to mean to separate, as in leave the home. This same word is used 5 other times in the Quran, and not once is it meant as physical harm. Need further proof? When the Prophet (PBUH) would become angry with his wives or they were not acting as Muslim women should, he never once harmed his wives. He would go to his own home for a month and leave them to think about what had happened. He did not threaten them, he did not say harsh words, he did not strike them. He did as that verse intructs. Furthermore, the Quran says men may not harm their wives and the Prophet (PBUH) spoke against men who beat women. What do you think of this fact? I know it happens, that can not be denied, but this happens everywhere. No matter the religion or country. How do you feel about this?
