The son of a North American Indian has come of age, as he is the son of the Chief, he has the privilege of choosing two squaws from his tribe as potential brides. He chooses the two young ladies and as tradition has it, they both give him a challenge that has to be completed before their respective weddings. The first squaw asks her husband to be, to hunt and kill two grizzly bears, so that their hides can be used on their wedding bed, the other squaw, by far the prettiest, asks for a hippopotamus skin for her wedding bed! The young man sets off on his quests, returning after only one moon with the two bear hides, he then ventures out again to complete his second quest, many moons later he returns with a hippopotamus skin. Both, squaws, and, tradition satisfied, the weddings take place nature takes it’s course, and nine months later, the first squaw gives birth to a baby boy, soon after, the second squaw gives birth to twin boys!
Elated yet confused, the young man ponders the events and the resulting children, asking his father to help him understand why things have turned out the way they have, his father is just as perplexed and suggests he speaks with the tribes wisest elder, the elder quietly reflects on the young man’s question, then he leans forward and gives his answer, “Young Brave, the answer is quite simple, ‘the sum of the squaw on the hippopotamus is equal to the sum of the squaw on the other two hides!’”

What would you have done ? Please remember - The Mid East has been embroiled in war almost constantly since 2550 BC so a rational and logical appeal for peace was more than likely not an option. Of course if you think you're smarter than the 1000's who have tried that approach, knock your self out.

I was in the grocery store today and I pass by this two girls speaking spanish to each other very loudly, I cringed alittle(you know! like spanish is being forced or crammed in my ears- I cant turn them off you know) ....but whatever, life goes on, anyway i went down the next aisle and looped around again and they they were again this time they were facing the other way and were blocking the path, people were piling up behind me, I assumed they didnt speak english so I decided to just try and squeeze thru, the closest girl turns and with her eyebrows squished together says in English- "you could have said excuse me", ...irritated I immediately blurted back "lo siento~ arrepentido" VERY sarcasticly- (means SORRY in spanish) and then I told her "how was I supposed to know that you understood english?" I think they were surprised that this whiteboy knows spanish- and then they hurried away from all of us Americans with our eyebrows pushed together!! Viva la America!! Engles por favor!!

I have an (almost) stepson who is 6 (am getting married in September). We have a very strange schedule with his visits, but his parents swear that it works fine. My fiancee and I have him Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday nights, all day Saturday, and Sunday until 9 a.m. I think this bizarre schedule could be part of the problem. Anyways, the kid drives me friggin' nuts - he doesn't listen, and is pretty apathetic to whatever you say. There are days where the mere sound of his voice makes me cringe - like nails on a chalkboard. When I first moved in last September, he was very mean to my dogs, and made a point to destroy or mangle anything of mine he could get his hands on. He still does not listen to or respect me at all. I used to want to have my own children - after dealing with this one, I don't anymore. Dad is a very good disciplinarian, but child does not care when I am disciplining. I am beginning to wonder if I was just not "physiologically wired" to deal with children - any ideas?

My husband likes the "X" and since Xylia is sort of an odd name we have agreed to use it as a middle name. Last name is M_____. So what first names do you think flow well with this middle name?
