Yes, as a nurse I would go the extra mile for those in need and quite often witnessed major changes in that patient's level of hope. (Sometimes I thought the little extra effort I extended was not worthy of the amount of praise I got in return, but I suppose when a situation looks bleak and someone sheds a light of hope on the situation, praise is a form of thanks).
