when adam petty and many others died nothing was made about it but as soon as earnhardt died it was a big deal. i think that is wrong!!!! that it took dale's death to realize that the sport wasn't safe enough. but they didn't see it when others died.

I personally think having a belt system is great, but do you think the problem lies within the fact that many Martial Arts schools within styles have less of an emphasis on the discretion of the instructor (And how the techniques flow and, apply with the student), than the ability for the student to memorize the criteria?
Example
Capoeira, for instance, takes much longer for promotion (There's usually only one period per year for promotion [The first belt can take up to two years to get]. There's moves you have to know, and over time you build up history of the art, the ability to play instruments, sing some of the songs, and more. The test, however, is usually a roda where you recieve your nickname, and new corda. After a few belts, the test is how you apply what you know into your own thing. All of this is almost exclusively based around the discretion of the instructor.

What do you think of my opinion? What is your opinion of the concept of belt systems?

I don't mean to be rude, but for a minute try putting yourself in our shoes:

If you believed that Jesus is the only Way, and that you can't have eternal life except through Him, and also believed what He told us about hell, wouldn't you think that we have a moral responsibility to say something even if God hadn't told us to?

Yeah, I do apologise for the times when it may seem like we've tried to force you to follow; I completely respect that it's a choice that you have to make yourself - God wouldn't want it any other way, however, I personally know of many people - even in my town - who had never heard the gospel before, and I think it's important that ppl hear and are given the choice.

For the record, I think that when someone becomes a Christian, the things that we gain are - another friend in the church and in heaven, and it also makes God happy. (Yeah, and sure - it's a big encouragement.)

X

Why is it that, when we join, we are stereotyped as degenerates almost, too poor or stupid to go to college. Unfit or under eduacated for any job in the civilain world. We send our poor men off to fight the rich politicians war. These sterotypes enfuriate me. Is it too hard to understand that some men actually want to serve their country under their own free will. I personally work with many men whom I'd consider boarderline genious, who could easily be working as an egineer for boeing or sikorsky. We have officers from some of the best academies in the world. While my friends live off their parents, and complain about how hard their finals are going to be, I myself deal with real world problems. Flying a multi-million dollar helicopter, making decisions that could cost the lives of me and my crew. Whom would you consider to be "smarter"? We do a job that most civilians wouldn't be able to handle. I know we have support, but why doesn't a kid who is thinking of joining?

I am seriously asking this joke..and please don't poke fun at this!
I myself knew about the world trade center when I was 17..and I had been on the top of it..visiting it..when I "saw" the strangers who would do horrific damage to the building and to the people..but, I was wrong about in how many years this would occur! It frightened me so badly that I kept bugging my mom to go...I just wanted to get off of the building..this was in 1979! I knew that the building was going to be smashed or broken in some way or another..didn't see the accident...but, just had a awful, awful feeling..and could see where the men were from..they were wearing white and black prayer shawls...It made me mad that I could NOT do anything about it! This was to happen but, I thought oh, perhaps it will happen in another ten years...or so...Little did I know about the other times that it actually did happen and then how many years later it occurred! WHOA!!
I also thought America would not care..I was wrong!

If you are a bit lazy, passive, and unambitious, is there a way to change? That is, if your philosopy is "let it be," will it ever be "seize the day?" Or should it be?
