Try writing it out as 5/3 * 18/1 (all whole numbers are over 1). So you can multiply the numbers straight across if you write the fractions horizontally... so...
5 x 18 = 90
3 x 1 = 3

So then you end up with 90/3 as a fraction and that can be Reduced because 90 divided by 3 is..... 30! Does that help

5
-- * 18 = 30
3
step 1:
3*6 =18
step2:
cut out 3 and write 1 instead.cut out 18 and write 6.
step 3 :
so now we have 5*6 which is 30.

alternate method:
5 * 18 = 90
3 * 1 = 3
so then it is 90/3
which is 30

let us try out another example:
2
-- * 16
4
step 1:
firstly u must answer this question.4* __ =16
that question must always be asked.
here the answer is 4

step 2:
then u must cut off 4 and write 1 and cut off 16 and write 4

step 3:
so now since we have 2/1 * 4
the answer will be 8.

alternate method:

2 * 16 = 32
4 * 1 = 4
so then 32/4
which is 8.

there..........wasnt that easy?

18 can be translated into 18/1. you multiply the top numbers so 5 x 18 which equals 90. you then multiply the bottom numbers or 3 x 1 equals 3. 90/3 equals 30.

18 divided by 1 is 18 so another way to write 18 is 18/1.

5*18=90 while 3*1= 3.

5/3* 18/1 = 90/3

90 divided by 3 is 30.

5/3 = 1 2/3
1X 18=18
2/3 or 0.666 x 18 = 11.988
18 + 11.988= 29.988
round it up to a whole number = 30

Five-thirds is like three-thirds (a whole one) plus two-thirds more. If you take three-thirds of 18, that's one whole 18=18. To get two-thirds more, figure out one-third of 18=6. Two thirds of 18=12.
The whole 18 plus two-thirds more is 18+12=30.
